On snow background:
Being born in Colorado, skiing wasn’t a choice it was a part of life. Snowboarding was another option for getting from top to bottom, or so my parents thought. This top to bottom sport became addicting, making me think about and draw pictures related to snowboarding every day. Throughout my years of riding, competition and making friends, I have found that snowboarding gives me an outlet which nothing else can fulfill. A way to express myself through a sport I have learned through the people I love. Snowboarding has become a way for me to share my knowledge and creativity daily, ask anyone passionate about this industry and you will learn. We all do this for the love.
Your history of working with youth , and coaching:
I started coaching youth in the midst of my prime competition years. Something about seeing someone enjoy learning, something you know and love, must be more important to me. I started working at Copper Mountain as an adult snowboard instructor when I was 17. When I was 20 or so, I started coaching competitions focused on the youth. I found watching individuals succeed was just as exciting to me as doing it. Through college I worked as a private coach focusing on a few students with a lot of potential. Now successful, these athletes have shown me that I do what I love every day.
A brief description about yourself that makes you stand out from the rest, and some of your coaching goals:
I am always smiling. Who honestly always smiles? Me. I would like to see the athletes succeed in life. Not just in the snowboarding aspect but all around, growing from boys to men. Watching each individual smile is a goal in itself, but by watching them communicate successfully and have a good time doing it. WOW.
What do you like to do outside of skiing/riding that makes you a better coach:
It’s a board sport life. Wither it is on the snow, in the water, or just on plane land, you will always find something on my feet. With doing what I love every day and watching people around me enjoy it to, using my eyes as tools it’s like being in class everyday and I love it.
