Academic Athletics

High School Academic Athletics – Ages 15 and up

The Team Summit Full-Time Early Release is a program that partners with the Summit County School District and is geared toward the serious USASA and USSA Competitor.
This Early Release program allows high school athletes to adjust their academic schedule to finish with classes earlier in the day so they can train in the afternoon starting late October and often into June.

Having the flexibility in schedule allows the athletes to take advantage of diverse terrain and a wide variety of snow conditions found at any one of the world-class Summit County resorts. This opportunity includes fall dryland, approximately 7 months on-snow training, spring dryland and pre-season snowboarding.

Programming includes: Individual athlete management, goal setting, technical and tactical skill development, physical and mental training and equipment preparation.

Locations:
Rotating schedule between all four mountains:

  • Arapahoe Basin
  • Breckenridge
  • Copper
  • Keystone

What is required before hitting the slopes:

  • USSA FIS and Competitor License
  • USASA membership
  • The Copper Mountain Season Pass
  • Vail Resorts Epic Locals Pass
  • Team Summit Jacket

What is required to participate in Summit County Schools Academic Athlete program:

  • Athletes must maintain a 75 percent grade in every class on the prior quarter report card
  • No credits or refunds will be issued due to missed training days caused by academic ineligibility.
  • Must participate in the Team Summit Colorado Strength and Conditioning Assessment and maintain 80 percent attendance for all physical and on snow training.
  • All Early Release athletes riding in Team Summit Colorado vans must purchase an in-county transportation pass for daily pickups and drop-offs at school. Transportation Pass price: $600

Program Fees: $4,500
* The cost of travel and competitions for both the athlete and coaches will be in addition to your program fees.

Fall Dryland:
Dates: Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, Mid-September– Mid-October
Times: 1:20pm – 3:00pm

On-Snow:
Dates: Mid-October – Closing Weekend
Times:
Tuesday and Thursday: 1:20pm – 4:00pm
Friday: Off, travel or selected training of Friday’s
Saturday’s and Sunday’s: 8:30am – 3:00pm

Spring Dryland:
Dates: Tuesday and Thursday, Mid-April – End of April (Subject to change)
Times: 1:15pm – 3:00pm

Middle School Academic Athletics – Ages 12 to 14

The Team Summit Full-Time Early Release program partners with the Summit County School District to help middle school athletes get more exposure to day time snowboarding. This also allows them to work in conjunction with our elite team and training schedule.

This Early Release program allows middle school athletes to adjust their academic schedule to finish with classes earlier in the day so they can train in the afternoon starting late October and often into June.

Athletes are introduced to a competitive goal oriented environment that includes physical conditioning, snowboarding technical and tactical skills training, equipment management and miles of fun-structured free riding. They will also be introduced to all the basics of competitive snowboarding in order to help prepare them for USASA and USSA competitions.

Note: Coaches will organize training around each athlete’s competitive schedule.

  • USSA youth competitor (12 and up) or USSA competitor (13 and up) license
  • USASA regional competitor license

  • One year of Devo participation or equivalent Highly Recommended.

Middle School Early release begins Mid-October – End of March
Times: 8:30am – 3:00pm
