Alpine Update – April 1, 2024

Dear Team Summit Alpine Parents; Ability Athletes; Alpine Coaches:
What an amazing season of racing it has been! A season filled with adventures, progression and personal podiums! Thank you all for being part of Team Summit’s Alpine Programs! We are proud of all our athlete’s efforts, passion for ski racing and joy of skiing!
The season is winding down with some of the final competitions of the season underway for our FIS and U16 athletes and the annual Loveland Derby for all our racers and scored GS Spectacular for U14 and older! More about the Derby and GS Spectacular below.
The 2023-24 season and fiscal year comes to an end on April 30. Year-end evaluations are being written and recommendations for next season are being made for Ski Racing Devo | Comp athletes who may be considering Age Class as their next step.
Registration for the 2024-25 season opens today, April 1, 2024. You will find all the 2024-25 Program information on the Alpine page of the Team Summit website: https://teamsummit.org/Alpine. Please read through the detailed information and reach out to your respective Head Coach or Aldo with any questions.
Applications for the 2024-25 programs can be submitted at any time. All applications are initially waitlisted for review. Once approved, invitations to enroll will be sent with a 5 day window to complete enrollment. A rolling timeline will be utilized prioritizing returning athletes through April 10. Following that date, new local or in-state applications will be considered. On April 20, new out of state applications will begin being considered.
Our goal is to provide returning athletes and families the opportunity to register before considering any new athletes until program capacity is reached.
Spring and summer camp registrations are now open for A-Basin and Copper. Please see below for more information and links to registration. August camps for Age Class and Ability are filled up and accepting waitlist applications.
Please reach out to me with any questions or just to catch up. See you next time on snow!
Best Regards,
Aldo

In This Update:
– Spring Fun Races
– May and June Training Camps
– August Training Camps
Spring Fun Races
The Loveland Derby on April 6 and 7 is a more than 60 year tradition: https://skiloveland.com/mc-events/loveland-derby-3/?mc_id=1249 . The derby is a celebration of ski racing offering both non-scored and sored categories where racers often compete in costumes and everyone throws down for a final time for the year.
The GS Spectacular is the GS version of the derby and the final RMD races scheduled this season on April 13 and 14. Unfortunately, the non-scored version could not be sited and only the scored version – The Campbell Cup – will be held in Vail. The scored version is open to RMD registered athletes U14 and older.
Ability racers attending either the Derby or Spectacular: There will be no Ability coaching staff assigned for either the Derby or Spectacular. Help and support each other during the race days, have fun and race hard!
Please check that your intent is marked correctly in Playmetrics to receive daily program information. Age Class Coaches Jared Hedges and Eric Fretz will represent you at the TCM and be available to assist you with anything that arises during the events.
May and June Training Camps
Spring camps are available to enrolled 2024-25 Team Summit athletes only. Non-members are not eligible.
Training is planned in both May and June to take advantage of exceptional skiing and training conditions close to home. Costs are significantly less than “away” camps where transportation, lodging and meals add significant expense. We urge our athletes to take full advantage of these opportunities before considering more expensive options. If planning to attend the Age Class Mt. Hood Camp or Ability Stelvio, Italy Camp, being on snow for the fundamental skills work that is the emphasis in May and June will enhance the effectiveness of time on snow in July and August.
As in the past, there are flexible options to attend the May and June training camps. Options include individual days and half or full camps for those able to take advantage of more sessions.
Information sheets are posted at: https://teamsummit.org/Alpine and registration is open through your Playmetrics account.
