Alpine Updates - December 3rd, 2020

Dear Team Summit Alpine Community:

With Copper Mountain resort open to the public, we have an increased responsibility to follow our COVID protocols and model exceptional compliance to mountain guests. Additionally, as the best skiers on the mountain, it is extremely important we model proper skiing etiquette, slow zone compliance, lift line behavior and respect for all mountain rules.

The resort has changed the approved drop-off and pick-up locations effective immediately.

The new drop-off and pick-up location for Center Village (American Eagle) is the Beeler Lot and for East Village (Super Bee) the location is the Wheeler Lot*.
*Maps showing the locations of both lots and traffic flow and drop-off location for the Beeler lot are attached.

As the early season training season is winding down at Copper, we hope that we will soon be able to confirm a more consistent training schedule for Age Class and Ability Teams. In the short term, we continue with the established training sign-up system. More details below.

Unfortunately, the first RMD FIS races scheduled for Loveland have been cancelled. Details and additional competition notes will be found below.

The Masters Program start date has been delayed from this weekend while reservation system exemptions are processed and Vail Resorts COVID protocols are finalized.

Ski Racing Devo begins this Saturday and Sunday with All Team training at Copper! All Ski Race Dev Parents will have received communications from Head Coach Samantha Streletsky with details.

Great news for all teams training at Copper! The bottom level of Solitude will be available on Wednesdays and Weekends as a warm-up area, particularly for our youngest skiers and riders. The capacity of this space is 50 people at a time. Physical distancing and mask wearing must be maintained at ALL TIMES. There will be benches and tables set up outside where lunches can be eaten. This space is for the exclusive use of our athletes and coaches to warm-up. Coaches will instruct athletes on access and other details.

We are truly blessed to have supportive host resorts to allow continuity of our programs at a challenging time for their businesses. Let’s continue to do our part to keep ourselves, loved ones, friends and our communities healthy.

  • Stay home when not feeling well
  • Masks on whenever not skiing
  • Maintain 6’ of separation at all times
  • Wash hands often

Be well and stay healthy!

The sign-up sheet for December 8-14 is open. The deadline for sign-up is end of day, Sunday December 6. It will not be possible to make individual changes after the deadline. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/132RLw7jzOmuv9Ml9kMh2osRDIwSkdSAw2jy9Bu-uXA0/edit?usp=sharing

Training Planning
For ski racing Devo, please refer to your calendar at the Team Summit website:https://teamsummit.org/members/calendars/intro-race.

Age Class, U16 and FIS athletes will continue to receive nightly email messages at approximately 7PM with training details for the following day.

Competition Planning
Racing calendars are being updated regularly as health regulations and resort protocols develop. These changes will be updated to the Alpine Program Calendars as they become known to us. https://teamsummit.org/members/calendars

Age Class U12 and U10 Calendars have been modified to reflect Team Summit’s assignment to the “East” U12/U10 Finale on March 15-16 scheduled for Winter Park.

The focus of race calendaring it to comply with health protocols and emphasize one day racing events that whenever possible eliminate the need for overnight stays or restaurant meals.

Currently, there are no sign-ups open for races. Parents and athletes will be informed when sign-ups are opened.

Video Platform Conversion
We have switched our video platform to Sprongo and are currently migrating to posting videos for viewing. This migration is taking place program by program. Your Head Coach will inform you when you will be able to access your videos there.

Athletes have received an email with an invitation to their team. Please accept this invitation and create a profile in order to be able to view video as it is posted by your coaches and allow us to properly tag users so videos display in your personal video feed. Please use your PROPER first and last name when setting up your profile… not a nickname or alias. This has to do with a feature that is being developed in Sprongo.

A second invitation has been sent today. Few athletes responded to the earlier invitation making it impossible currently for videos to be tagged to the user. This is delaying our program wide migration to Sprongo.

The invitations are sent to the athlete email that is registered in Campminder. If you need to change this email address, please log into your Campminder account and edit the email address on file for the athlete.

The athlete and coach accounts are being provided at no charge to Team Summit. We are currently exploring options for parent accounts for those parents who would like to access their child’s videos when posted. THIS INFORMATION WILL BE PROVIDED ONCE DETAILS AND COSTS ARE FINALIZED.

In the meantime, some programs continue to temporarily post videos to Google Drive. Please save any videos that you wish to archive to your own device or cloud storage. Google Drive videos will not be transferred to Sprongo once the switch is made.

World Cup Video
Watching World Cup video is a powerful learning tool. Take some time nightly before going to bed to watch a few of your favorite athletes to prepare for the next day’s training.

A sampling of skiers and disciplines from last year’s World Cup races and additional training examples are available as a playlist in your team’s home page on Sprongo. Enjoy!
