COVID-19 Updates - April 12th, 2020

Dear Team Summit Families,

We hope this letter finds you safe and not going stir crazy.

Here in Summit County, Team Summit continues to do our part in flattening the curve. As a sports organization, it is difficult to sit on the sidelines.  We want to get back on snow asap, however, at the same time make sure that when we do return to training things don’t flare up again.

The Athletic Directors have been hard at work to make sure that when the time comes to return to the sport we are prepared to take advantage of every opportunity, This includes Chris Hughes posting videos on our social media platforms of in-home workouts 3 times a week to make sure we maintain our fitness. Securing our coaching staff for next season. Planning camps throughout the summer so we can start chasing snow as soon as it is prudent to do so.

The Administrative staff has been busy ensuring our sustainability through the spring and beyond. We have made a great deal of positive headway in our efforts to cut costs and replace funds lost due to the cancelation of several events and camps. If you have ever wondered if the staff and coaches care about your kids, our coaches have pledged and given over $15,000 in a two week period of time to ensure we are ready to move forward with training as soon as possible. In addition, the community has donated over $6,700. And we are still working on matching the $138,000 matching gift from an anonymous donor.

How you can help
We are aware that many Team Summit friends and family members are in survival mode. However, others are in a position to help. We would love to reach the full match on the $138,000 gift. This would guarantee all our staff and programs can be ready to go when the crisis ends.

One exciting thing to be aware of is the CARES Act gives everyone a $300 “above the line” tax credit for donating to a nonprofit during the COVID-19 crisis. What this means is that even if you take the standard deduction on your taxes, you will get an additional $300 deduction for donating to a nonprofit. Whether it’s Team Summit or another nonprofit you support, this is a great opportunity for you to give.

If you chose to support Team Summit you can do that through our COVID-19 matching fund. So not only will your donation be deductible (within current IRS/CARES Act rules), but it will be matched from our anonymous donor. The link to give is https://www.coloradogives.org/tsc-covid-19-matching-fund

Community Partners Discounts
A couple of our community partners are offering special services and pricing during this time to better serve the community. A Racer’s Edge and Podium Sports, two of our small local businesses, are offering discounts on gear and services earlier than normal. Groove Auto is offering no contact auto service with special discounts for Team Summit families.

Help Us, Help You
Finally, we encourage you to help us better serve you next season and beyond by completing our end of season survey. It only takes about 5 minutes to complete and will help us deliver better coaching and training. It is an anonymous survey. You can complete the survey by going to https://teamsummit.org/members/blog/team-summit-survey

I can’t wait to get back to coaching and training our athletes as we prepare for next season. In the meantime, continue supporting efforts to flatten the curve.

I Love This Sport,
