Moguls Updates - January 27th, 2020

Hey crew!

I heard it was a great weekend in Telluride and all of our skiers did awesome! Tons of ribbons and great skiing from all of the athletes that went down. I want to send a special thanks to coach Myles! He did a great job leading our Team Summit crew in T-Ride.

We had 4 of our RQS skiers in Vail at the RMD move up event. They all skied great and stood up runs on a very powdery course on Cookshack. Way to show up with your chins held high and show the older athletes what’s coming there a way in the next few years.

This weekend coach Myles and coach Greg (with some special guest appearances from coach Chris Carson) will be coaching the RQS/Devo crew at A-Basin. I will be in Aspen with a couple of our RMD move up athletes.

Here is the schedule for Arapahoe Basin:

Friday 1/31
1:00– meet on snow in the base area of the BMX chair
3:30– athlete pick up on snow in the base area of the BMX chair

Saturday 2/1
8:15– meet on snow in the base area of the BMX chair
11:15– lunch
3:00– athlete pick up on snow in the base area of the BMX chair

Sunday 2/2
8:15– meet on snow in the base area of the BMX chair
11:15– lunch
3:00– athlete pick up on snow in the base area of the BMX chair

Let’s get back to our home mountain for the best freeskiing around and work some new skills in the mogul course.
Thanks,
Chris Hughes

Hey RMD move up crew,

Great job getting signed up for the RMD move up event in Aspen Highlands this weekend. We all skied the RQS course a few weeks ago and looked over at the RMD course thinking “can’t wait until I ski that course”, here we are. Be sure to bring your confidence and let’s get ready to charge!

Please be sure to review the event fact sheet on the Rocky Mountain Freestyle website. It will answer almost any question you have. Here is a schedule for our RQS crew in Aspen Highlands:

Friday 1/31
Event training in Aspen Highlands
10:30- meet in the base area of the Thunderbowl chair lift in the Aspen Highlands area (tickets for the day can be purchased here and rental bibs for the competition can be picked up here, please do that before our meeting time. Also, have an early lunch before meeting. We will train through lunch)
11:00-2:00 training on the mogul course
2:15- athlete pick up ON SNOW PLEASE in the base area of the Thunderbowl chairlift

Saturday 2/1
Singles comp day
8:00- meet at AVSC (Aspen Valley Ski Club)
8:30- load the 5 Trees chairlift (you will not find this chair on a trail map)

Remember to bring $35 in cash for the bib rental. $5 rental fee and a $30 deposit which you will get back when you return the bib at the end of the day on Saturday. One last thing, Rocky Mountain Freestyle does their absolute best to try and get everyone 2 competition runs on Saturday. However, this is not guaranteed since the events sell out. Sometimes weather delays or a slow-moving competition may result in 10% - 20% of the field getting cut after the first run.

It’s going to be a great weekend!
Bring your confidence, bring your great attitudes.
Thanks,
Chris Hughes
