Team Summit Alpine Update – September 10, 2023

Dear Team Summit Alpine Ski Racing Devo, Age Class and Ability Parents; All Ability Athletes; Alpine SRD, Age Class and Ability Coaches:

 

Happy Fall! The leaves are showing their first signs of turning and winter is just around the corner!

 

These regular Alpine Updates contain much program information including upcoming events and activities for all Alpine Program participants and staff. Please take the time to read this information carefully and act on any requests as quickly as possible.

Here you will find program specific information regarding general training schedules, required passes, training locations, recommended equipment and much more. Find the drop-down for program calendars, equipment, passes, etc. for detailed information in all areas.

 

Season pass information from each of our partner resorts is being compiled. Once we have final pass information, the administrative team will communicate that to all Alpine membership.

 

All calendaring of training and competition events, team communications, IM and program alerts utilize Playmetrics. The Ability and Age Class Team rosters and calendars are updated through the start of on-snow training on October 20. Ski Racing Devo (SRD) and Ski Racing Comp (SRC) rosters and calendars will be updated in advance of on-snow training that begins on December 2.

 

US Ski and Snowboard (USSS), Rocky Mountain Division (RMD) Competition Calendars for all programs and age groups are nearly finalized. Colorado Competition Council Equipment Ordering September 16, 17!

 

The Fifth Annual Colorado Competition Council Equipment Session is being held at Silverthorne Elementary School next weekend, September 16 and 17 from 9AM-4PM daily. This is the opportunity for Team Summit Alpine racers to order new equipment at special racer pricing.

 

Representatives from most of the racing hardgoods and softgoods manufacturers and race focused retailers will be present to help you with your equipment decisions, sizing and get you set up with everything you need to compete this winter. Most hardgoods will be special order. Smaller items and soft goods can often be purchased on site and taken home.

 

Team Summit Head Age Class Coach Jared Hedges and Ability Coach and Equipment Coordinator Heath Colon will be present on Sunday from 10AM to 1PM to help any Ability, Age Class, Ski Racing Devo and Ski Racing Comp families with their equipment questions.

The Rossignol racing catalog has a comprehensive sizing chart based on age and weight that we use as the guideline for all sizing regardless of brand. This is your best resource for making sizing decisions for ski length and boot flex.

US Ski & Snowboard (USSS) Development Camps This Fall

There are a number of USSS and RMD Development Camps scheduled throughout the fall. Some camps are by qualification/invitation and others are open to a specific age group. It is recommended that invited athletes attend whenever possible.

A U14 speed camp is tentatively planned in Aspen on December 4, 5. More information TBA.

 

Financial Aid Application Deadline September 30

Team Summit provides financial aid to help with the cost of program fees for those who need support. Application deadline for 2023-24 winter programs is September 30.
