Big Mountain Skiing Update 3/17-3/19

Congrats to all of you that competed at Abasin, I saw some really great moments from every competitor.  Even though I was not coaching, I was able to watch everybody's runs. Rolling into this weekend, we have a slight conflict with the Breck National.  This event will drain a fair amount of our coaching resources to support the athletes competing, but we'll still offer some training on Saturday and Sunday for those that want to make the trip to Breck on Saturday and Sunday. Walker Robinson named to JR World Championship Team 2023

Even though the winter sports season is slowly coming to a close in Summit County and across the U.S., the season is still going strong in terms of high-level competitions overseas.  One such competition yet to occur this winter season is the 2023 Ski Cross Junior World Championships in San Pellegrino, Italy, and Team Summit’s Walker Robinson is set to compete in the event after a breakthrough ski cross season on the Nor-Am Cup and International Ski Federation (FIS) circuit. Eight Local Athletes Make RMN Junior Nationals Nordic Ski Team

Eight Local Athletes Make RMN Junior Nationals Nordic Ski Team With points from the season from four Junior National Qualifier (JNQ) events, there are eight Team Summit Colorado Nordic athletes that have quailed for the US Ski and Snowboard Cross-Country Junior Nationals race hosted in Fairbanks, Alaska. This race will bring together the nation’s top cross-country skiers ages 14-20 years old. These athletes must qualify for the Rocky Mountain Nordic Team, skiing the best 4 out of 8 Nordic races...

Athlete of the Month – February – James Sowers

James has had 100% perfect attendance over the last 30 days. While he has always been a dedicated athlete, he has stepped up his commitment over the last 12 months. After attending JNs for the first time last year and while also as a SkiMeister (racing both Alpine and Nordic).  This achievement (100% attendance) is after having a serious crash on roller skis and being out for several weeks with a concussion this past fall.
