Requirements

  • US Ski and Snowboard Membership

All staff must join US Ski and Snowboard, complete a background check, Safesport Training, and Introductory Avalanche Training. Full-Time Coaches need a Coach Membership, and Part-Time Coaches need a Volunteer Membership. Membership costs will be reimbursed. US Ski and Snowboard will email you access to all required trainings—use only their links. Coaches 15-17 years old must select “Alpine Junior Coach Membership” or email membership@usskiandsnowboard.org to upgrade for $10 (reimbursable). Complete by October 15th for Early-Bird Pricing.

USSS offers a Junior Coach membership in Alpine and Cross Country for members aged 15–17. These members are required to complete SafeSport training to activate the membership. Membership descriptions can be found on the following page: USSS Membership Descriptions.

To hold an active certification, members must have a Coach membership. Sport Education has provided details on how to become certified here: Coach Certification Pathway.

More information on coach certifications can be found here: USSS Coach Certifications.

Sport Education can be reached via email at sporteducation@usskiandsnowboard.org or by calling either 435-647-2050 or 435-602-0598. They would have the most information regarding the requirements for becoming certified.

  • SAFESPORT

As an employee of Team Summit Colorado you are required to take SafeSport annually. This is a very important certification. You will receive a confirmation email once you have renewed/bought your US Ski & Snowboard membership, which will guide you to the course. Here is more information on SAFESPORT & MAAPP (MAAPP means Minor Athlete Abuse Prevention Policies)

Certifications

  • CPR and First Aid Certification

Current First Aid and CPR certifications are required for all coaches. Certificates are valid for a two-year period. Those that need a new certification or to update a previous certification may do so online: cpr.io. Once you have completed the training and passed the test you will need to send to KJ@teamsummit.org. Any costs will be reimbursed.

  • Concussion Safety Training

Colorado law requires that all youth sports coaches receive concussion safety training annually. Certification is free and the online course is accessed here: https://www.cdc.gov/headsup/youthsports/training/index.html. Once you have successfully completed the course you will receive a certificate that you can email to:  KJ@teamsummit.org

For any expenses incurred when obtaining certifications or for future competition travel, please complete the 2025-2026 Expense Reimbursement Template and submit it to your head coach or director for approval. Once your head coach or director approves your request, then THEY will forward the approved Expense Reimbursement form to our finance manager to be submitted through Gusto.

**** The Expense Reimbursement Form is a Google sheet, which means it saves everything you type, so please “make a copy” BEFORE filling it out so that you aren’t filling your information in on the blank template********

    Instructions for submitting reimbursement requests:

    1. Click here to access the Expense Reimbursement form.
    2. ENSURE YOU ARE LOGGED IN UNDER YOUR TEAMSUMMIT.ORG EMAIL ADDRESS
    3.  Go to File/Make a Copy and rename the document with your name and the date

    5.  Once complete, go to File/Download/to PDF or Print to PDF.
    6.  Email your head coach or director for approval and attach the Expense Reimbursement form PDF, and also attach JPEGs or PDFs of receipts if applicable
    7.  If your head coach or director approves your reimbursement request, then they will forward your email (with attachments) to our finance manager with a message that says “APPROVED”. Reimbursments are submitted weekly.

Please note that neither our Membership Manager, Executive Director, Business Director, nor Employment Engagement Coordinator cannot Approve these requests.

Your user id is your personal email address. Every employee is paid via direct deposit. If that is not possible, please contact KJ@teamsummit.org. All important documents such as: signed offer letters, certs, W2, are under documents tab.

  • Health Insurance – ICHRA – Full-Time Coaches Only

Seasonal and year-round full-time employees should have received a Welcome Email from Take Command Health, which manages our new Individual Coverage Health Reimbursement Arrangement (ICHRA). To participate, you must have a qualifying individual health insurance policy; being a dependent on another’s plan disqualifies you. You can get individual health insurance from Peak Health Alliance, the Colorado Health Insurance Marketplace (Connect for Health Colorado), or private insurers. Take Command Health’s portal, detailed in the Welcome Email, helps with insurance shopping. We transitioned to this model on 10/1/20 to let seasonal employees retain their summer plans year-round. Review the Take Command Health email for ICHRA details and reimbursement steps. If you need another copy of the Welcome Email, contact KJ at kj@teamsummit.org. To opt out of participation, log in to www.takecommandhealth.com.

  • AllState Accident Policy

This policy is part of a supplemental insurance as part of your benefits package from Team Summit as a coach. It helps cover expenses from injuries that happen outside of work and supplements your regular health insurance policy to help cover gaps in medical costs. Team Summit pays the premium while you are employed, but you must complete and submit an enrollment form to KJ@teamsummit.org. You will have the option to take over the premium yourself and continue the coverage in the off-season if you like. The enrollment may be requested from KJ by visiting the office or emailing kj@teamsummit.org. Please complete the form and email to kj@teamsummit.org or drop it in the office mailbox (760 Copper Rd, #D102).
