This program provides a variety of benefits to athletes such as exploring new and different trails in Summit County, meeting new friends, staying in shape for skiing and snowboarding, and progressing on a bike over three months time.
The program caters to a variety of abilities including intro level, enduro riding, and training for the Summit Mountain Challenge bike series throughout the summer. Athletes will learn or improve proper trail etiquette, bike handling tips (body position, braking, line choice, cornering, drops, jumps, ascending/descending, etc.), LNT, and some terminology of bike parts. The mountain bike program is geared towards athletes ages 8 and older who can ride on single track trails. Rides will take place on trail systems throughout Summit County on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays. Teams will split each ride depending on numbers and ability in order to match the athlete’s level of riding.
Please also know athletes are NOT required to compete in races.
We have athletes among all ability levels from Development to Enduro/XC/Downhill racers. This program is unique in the sense that some athletes are competitive mountain bikers, and some athletes utilize the program for pure enjoyment, while others use it for cross-training.
