The Team Summit MTB program aims to provide safe, fun, and enjoyable experiences to help develop our athletes into lifelong cyclists.
Our Mission
The goal of the spring indoor cycling and strength program is to maximize athletic performance and reduce injuries encountered during participation in all sports. This is accomplished through improvements in mobility, flexibility, postural enhancements, absolute strength, and power production. Age / Grade Level 5th - 8th (Current 2022 school year grade)

Location: Rosener Human Performance Center, Snowbridge Square - 760 Copper Rd Copper Mountain, CO 80443 Transportation We are looking into offering team van pickup and drop-off service at Summit Middle School. Otherwise, we will use Summit Stage, carpooling and parent drop-off and pick-up as transport options. Program times may slightly vary based on transportation sources. Cost One (1) day-a-week training option - $80 per session (Must choose either Monday OR Wednesday, no switching between days) Two (2) days a week training option - $150 per session
The goal of this trip is to get riders out for a weekend of riding in the spring to get our legs and lungs ready for summer. For those riders who hope to improve their cycling shape for the summer season, this is a great start. It’s also a great opportunity to bond with fellow peers, eat good food and talk about the summer season we want to have together. Expect to ride for 3 days straight from 4/20/23 - 4/23/23 during this trip, each day totaling around 10 - 15 miles. Trip

Must be able to confidently ride up and down intermediate (blue) and advanced (black) single-track trails and features and have an understanding of basic MTB fundamentals. This is NOT an intro to MTB skills trip.
Location: We have group camping reservations at 18 Rd. North Fruita Desert. RVs, pull-behinds, and vans are all welcome! Campsite included in the cost of the trip
Cost: $250 for the whole trip or $75 per day **Transportation is not included in the trip. Reach out if you need help coordinating transportation.
Rattler Racing is excited to be hosting the Fandango XC race in Bailey, CO. The course delivers everything you would expect from an XC mountain bike race. It’s a 5-mile world cup style course packed with solid climbing, twisty turns, short technical sections, and fun descents. Year after year this race is voted one of the best MTB races in Colorado, come see why. We’ll be traveling as a team to participate in the race together. After the race, we’ll explore other trails in the area, grab team lunch and maybe go for a hike?!

The goal of the Salida Day trip is to get our riders out for a day of riding to help knock the dust out of our legs and to start getting in some miles. For those riders who hope to improve their cycling shape for the summer season, this is a great start. We will be putting in about 12-16 miles while including breaks for lunch and other team activities.
Date and Time: 5/6 from 7am - 5pm Age / Grade Level: 5th - 8th (Current 2022 school year)
Ability: Intermediate to advanced riders. This is our final team camp and trip for the spring season. The goal of this trip is to get riders out for a weekend of riding in Durango, Cortez and Dolores. For those riders who hope to improve their cycling shape for the summer season, this is a great start. We’ll spend Saturday and Sunday riding local trails. On Monday, riders who sign up for the Iron Horse Classic race will get coaching support before and during their event. We’ll also be participating in and spectating the weekend events during the Iron Horse Classic, a classic Durango ride/race using trails within the Horse Gulch system.
Dates: May 26th-29th Grades: 5th - 8th (Current 2022 school year)
Ability: Intermediate to advanced riders, interested in adventuring and racing Transportation: Transportation is not included in the cost of the trip. Reach out if you need help coordinating transportation or carpooling.
Cost: $175 Location: We will be Camping in Durango at Junction Creek Campground. We have a group site booked that allows max 18’ vehicles. Tents, cars, trucks, and vans are preferred. It’s a tight space and anything larger than that will have a hard time getting in and out. If you plan to bring a large vehicle or camping unit for the weekend, you’ll need to book a single site.

Youth who are new to Team Summit and/or mountain biking should register for one of the Intro to Team Summit MTB Skills clinics and camps offered before summer programming starts. These clinics are focused on teaching basic mountain bike skills that are needed before riding single-track trails safely. Most of the instruction will be done on the grass, pavement and pump track at the Frisco Adventure Park in Frisco. Weekend and weekday sessions are available. This is a highly recommended prerequisite clinic before joining JR. Devo and Devo Programs if new to Team Summit and/or mountain biking.

New to town or just getting into mountain biking? This is your group! The Intro to Team Summit MTB Fundamental Program is a 6-week program focused on learning and developing fundamental MTB skills, having fun, meeting new friends, basic bike awareness, and building confidence riding singletrack trails. Age / Grade Level This program is for Fall 2023 3rd - 8th graders. We will be splitting into groups based on grade, ability and fitness level. Moving riders up to an older group is at the COACHES' DISCRETION ONLY as there are many considerations, beyond skill and fitness, that play into this scenario. If you have multiple children participating in our programs, the older rider can always ride down.

Equipment: The following is required at each practice: Bike: All athletes must be on a good-fitting bike with a minimum of 20” wheels. Pay attention to grips, bar-ends, chain, tires, and suspension. No peddle brakes or kickstands allowed. Helmet!: A properly fitting helmet that’s in good condition with no cracks, dents, or other damage. We recommend helmets be replaced at least every 2 years. Required gear: Raincoat, backpack or water bottle/Camelbak, a spare tube for their tire size, two tire levers, and a mini pump (make sure pump fits their tube valves - check for Presta or Schrader), close-toed shoes. Optional, but recommended: Gloves, glasses, knee pads and sunscreen Snacks: Healthy snacks such as homemade granola bars, pretzels, peanut butter and jelly sandwich, fruit leathers, honey stinger waffles and gels, dried bananas or apples, trail mix, fruit pouches, rice cakes.

The JR. Devo Program is designed for young riders who have shown a passion and demonstrated the skills necessary to ride adventurous trails in Summit County. Riders in this group must be capable of comfortably riding at least a 24” bike with gears and hand brakes on single-track trails for periods of up to 2-3 hours (this includes breaks). Intermediate biking skills such as speed control, riding through rocky terrain, proficient braking, adequate shifting technique, as well as being able to climb uphill portions of single-track trails are required. Athletes should be able to ride local trails such as; Blair Witch, Hay Trail, ZL, Hippo Trail, Barney Ford and Flow, Aspen Alley, and Upper/Middle Flume. In summer 2023, we will be splitting our Jr. Devo riders into three groups based on skill ability, fitness level and personal goals. Moving riders up to an older/more advanced group is at the COACHES' DISCRETION ONLY as there are many considerations, beyond skill and fitness, that play into this rare scenario. The Devo program is for middle schoolers interested in continuing to build skills and abilities on the bike. The overall goals of the team are to build fundamental and intermediate bike handling skills and instill a sense of community among riders. Riders of all ability levels are encouraged. This group will consist of our sixth through eighth-grade middle school riders who are motivated to continue with skill building and are interested in taking their adventure riding to the next level. Riders in this group must be on a minimum of a 26” bike and aspire to tackle longer, more physically demanding rides including V3, Backdoor/Sidedoor, Nightmare on Baldy, B-Line, Colorado Trail - West Ridge, Slalom, and Hard Luck. While racing is not mandatory, riders in this group may be interested in participating in local and regional races through the Devo Race Program. Age / Grade Level Fall 2023 6th - 8th graders Devo Program Program Options: Adventure Program - For riders who have an interest in developing their riding skills in a relaxed and fun setting. You’ll ride hard, but the focus is more on skill development, social riding and team trips. Junior Bike Week is the only multi-day festival in the world that exclusively celebrates KIDS ON BIKES! We have events happening throughout the week for kids of all ages and abilities with everything from trail work and skills clinics to competitive racing.
Dates: June 22nd - 25th (Thurs - Sun) Note*** If an athlete is signed up for Triple Crown or the Enduro event, you must arrive Thursday @ 12pm to pre-ride the Enduro course. Grades/Skill Level Devo and Devo Race Teams - We welcome all families and riders to join us for Junior Bike Week. The focus of the trip will be on Adventure Devo and Race Devo groups who want to race/participate in the three events offered.
Lodging: Camping is available at Crested Butte Community School soccer field at 1005 9th Street. Individual campsite reservations have to be made when registering athletes for race. Limited spots so sign up early. Team Summit doesn’t get a group site. Tent camping is easier to get than RVs or pop-ups. Cost: $250

You must register for Junior Bike Week on their event website. During registration, you will select which events athletes will participate in (XC, Pumptrack, and/or Enduro), along with reserving camping.
Send it Sunday riders will receive lessons on how to improve their Downhill and Bike Park skills while being safely guided throughout the day as they shred with all their buddies! Make sure to bring a lunch or money for food as this is an all-day trip. Register for just one day, or ALL! This is an a-la-carte-style weekend trip to Keystone Bike Park. **Bike Lift Ticket not included

Riders will learn and practice skills to elevate their mountain biking to the next level! This course is designed for riders with prior mountain biking experience. The skills taught in this course build on our Intro to Team Summit and Devo programs and include intermediate skills including berm and flat turn cornering, beginner drops, intro to technical riding, and more. This is a 2-day course and will introduce new skills and practice as well as on-trail skills application.
