Team Summit Colorado is one of Colorado's top ski clubs offering year-round programming for young athletes to develop fitness, confidence, and skills in a team-based environment.
Cross-country skiing (Nordic) is an Olympic sport governed by the international ski federation FIS. For nearly 50 years Team Summit’s Nordic program has been a part of the cross-country skiing community providing access to Nordic skiing for young athletes.
More than just focusing on ski racing, Team Summit Nordic's mission is to provide the youth with a well-balanced program including fitness, self-esteem, and character development through training and competition within a nurturing environment. The club will educate our youth about the values of sports, healthy competition, individual effort, and team spirit.
Competitive race program for athletes ages 14 and older.
Our Comp program is designed for highly competitive athletes: Nordic skiing is their passion!
The Comp program offers high and post-high-school skiers year-round training and race opportunities. Comp team athletes have both dryland and on-snow training opportunities, with the additional option of 4 training camps per year. Training opportunities include individualized goal setting, state-of-the-art testing, monthly training plan analysis, customized team and on-your-own technical training, mental coaching, strength and plyometric training, heart rate and nutrition analyses and race strategy.
Members participate in RMN and local races.
Program Dates: Program runs year round, accepting new athletes in May each year. Roughly 550 training hours per year.

Competitive bridge program for athletes ages 11-13
The Devo program is for competitively driven, experienced skiers (U12 and older) seeking individualized training and competition opportunities. Devo serves as a competitive bridge program from the Prep team to the Comp team.
Sessions include both dry land and on-snow training with a focus on developing ski technique and individual fitness in a fun environment.

Bonus day: Leading up to race season we offer an additional day most weeks falling on Friday or Saturday to help prepare for racing. These are totally optional. See Training Schedule for details.

The Devo program is for competitively driven, experienced skiers (U12 and older) seeking individualized training and competition opportunities. Devo serves as a competitive bridge program from the Prep team to the Comp team. The Devo team meets 3-5 sessions per week. Training includes summer dryland team sessions and individualized (on-your-own) training, in addition to fall dryland and winter on-snow sessions.
- Summer Devo: our summer devo programs are for athletes ages 8 and up. They are focused on developing fitness in a fun environment with a special focus on learning to roller ski.
- Fall Rollerski: This 6-week program is offered for non-Comp athletes 10 and older who want to continue developing skills learned over the summer or for those athletes who want to get an early start on winter training.
- Winter Devo: Winter Devo begins mid-October and runs through mid-March. Training includes running, roller skiing and on-snow training.

Introductory racing program for athletes ages 7 -11
Introductory program for athletes ages 7-11 who want to learn both skate and classic techniques while having fun. We encourage Prep 1 athletes to try racing, but the focus is on fun while learning the basic gears in both disciplines.

Prep Level two is for young athletes with experience in both skate and classic techniques. Prep Level 2 is a race focused program with an emphasis on developing both skills and fitness. The minimum age is 8 and athletes must have completed a season of Prep Level 1 before advancing to level 2.

Summer Devo emphasizes fun through roller skiing, adventure, running, agility skills and team building. Level 1 is for kids who are totally new to SNSC and/or roller skiing and Level 2 is for kids with roller ski experience. Ages 8 and up.
Program Dates: June 5th - August 14th.

Advanced physical training for highly competitive athletes. Roller ski training is critical for summer training and all College Comp athletes are expected to have both skate and classic roller skis. This program will offer specific College Comp sessions as well as tailored training plans to fit the needs of college athletes.
Program Dates: June 7th - September 1st. Schedule varies but meets on average 5 times per week.
Program Cost: $1850

1966 The club started under coach Steve Rechiele. The founding fathers and mothers were the Zdechliks, Andersons, Armstrongs and Wellingtons among others.
1968 Jim Balfonz took over as the coach.
1971 Frisco Gold Rush (ski race) was started to support the club.
2004 Summit Nordic Ski Club was officially established as a stand alone organization.
2005 SNSC was granted non-profit status.

LITTLE VIKINGS
In partnership with the Town of Frisco and the Town of Breckenridge, SNSC developed the Little Vikings learn to ski program. We offer two sessions each winter where we introduce kids ages 5-11 to Nordic skiing through fun, games, and exploration.
