Team Summit Colorado is one of Colorado’s top ski clubs offering year-round programming for young athletes to develop fitness, confidence, and skills in a team-based environment.

Program Approach

Cross-country skiing (Nordic) is an Olympic sport governed by the international ski federation FIS. For nearly 50 years Team Summit’s Nordic program has been a part of the cross-country skiing community providing access to Nordic skiing for young athletes.

More than just focusing on ski racing, Team Summit Nordic’s mission is to provide the youth with a well-balanced program including fitness, self-esteem, and character development through training and competition within a nurturing environment. The club will educate our youth about the values of sports, healthy competition, individual effort, and team spirit.

This introductory program is for athletes ages 7-11 who want to learn both skate and classic techniques while having fun. ITS 1 athletes focus on fun while learning the basic gears in both disciplines. ITS Level 2 is for young athletes with experience in both skate and classic techniques. The Devo program offers a couple of different tracks. One track is for competitively driven, experienced skiers (U12 and older) seeking individualized training and competition opportunities. Devo serves as a competitive bridge program from the Prep team to the Comp team for those looking to have a competitive program. There is also a Devo flex program for those who want to continue to increase their skills but aren’t looking to be highly competitive – they want to pursue skiing for the love of a life-long sport. The flex program is 2 days a week. The Devo team meets 3 sessions per week with increased days on race weeks. Training includes summer dryland team sessions and individualized (on-your-own) training, in addition to fall dryland and winter on-snow sessions. The RMN races are optional, and devo skiers are encouraged to participate in their school nordic team.

This program offers high and post-high-school skiers year-round training and race opportunities. Comp team athletes have both dryland and on-snow training opportunities, with the additional option of 3-4 training camps per year. Training opportunities include individualized goal setting, monthly training plan analysis, customized team and on-your-own technical training, mental coaching, strength and plyometric training, and race strategy. Other options at the comp level are:

  • Comp winter-only: ideal for those who do other sports or travel in the summer and fall (October – March).
  • Comp summer: ideal for those who want to train in the summer but do a fall sport  (June – August).
