What are your Ski/Snowboard Accomplishments?
One accomplishment I hold in high regard is that is that in an environment where young snowboarders and their families have so many options to help them reach their dreams, many of them have chosen to put their trust in us at Team Summit.I am currently a USSA/USASA Level 300 certified snowboard coach. My personal coaching journey has taken course over the past 16 years in many forms – I have coached team sports such as soccer and baseball, I spent many years as an AASI certified snowboard instructor at Copper where I was awarded Rookie Instructor of the Year, a mountain program coordinator with the SOS program, a coach at Woodward for many years where I also was a Head Coach for 3 seasons (one of those where I managed over 40 coaches as the only Head Coach Supervisor on staff), and now a Head Coach at Team Summit. I was honored to be chosen as Coach of the Year in 2017 out of all the coaches in the entire club, but honestly it was much more rewarding to help many of the kids work hard all season and reach many of their goals.
What is an interesting fact about you that no one else knows?
I practically lived on a sports field my entire childhood, and my biggest team accomplishment was winning the State Championship with my little league team and coming within a few games of qualifying for the Little League World Series.
What is your favorite thing about Team Summit Colorado?
We keep it FUN and we encourage growth as an individual even more so than we care about competitive results! That’s not to say we don’t see results from our athletes. Quite the contrary, by focusing on the process of progression, we are helping our athletes to achieve successes that will last for long term. Plus, we have the coolest kids in the country, so it really makes our job easy.
What is your favorite quote?
“Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your strength, and with all your mind, and love your neighbor as yourself.” – Jesus
