Background – Todd has a B.A. in Business Economics with an emphasis in Accounting from the University of California at Santa Barbara. He is a trained certified public accountant, although his career has moved away from the accounting side to the management, operations, strategic and growth sides of business. He began his career working for small CPA firms and then subsequently joined a small aerospace company in California as CFO and Director of Operations. He then moved to Colorado in 2000. Once here, he joined Airwalk as its controller, and then he moved to Spyder, working first as controller and then as CFO, where he oversaw Spyder’s growth from a $20 million company to a $100 million company in his seven years there. He moved to a fledgling company called Brandbase, which was an incubator for snowboard, skate and streetwear brands. He served as its CFO during the initial 18-month start-up phase. He started his own consulting company in 2008 in which he serves as a member of the management team of several consumer products firms and advises them on how to achieve their respective business objectives from the financial, operational and strategic perspectives. His clients include an action sports company and a wine distributor. In addition, he has served as a board or advisory member on several corporate boards.
How he can help Team Summit: Todd has a broad range of business experience, working with companies from the initial meetings in the start-up phase through the growth phase, and in some cases, through the sale once business goals have been achieved. He is willing to share this business expertise to help Team Summit achieve its strategic objectives. He brings extensive experience with critical business decision-making and is dedicated to helping the club manage to its budget and raise the funds necessary for its sustainability and growth. He believes that he can help the club grow and retain and attract more athletes. Because Todd is not a parent in the club, he is excited about being able to share his perspective as an “outsider” and his knowledge as a businessman. He has spent most of his career building company brands from the operational and financial perspective; he is experienced in promoting a company’s growth from the financial perspective while being a steward of its brand. He welcomes the opportunity to help Team Summit do the same.
Personal: Todd lives in Lafayette, CO and is the father of two children, ten-year-old Maddie and twelve-year-old Zach. He and his children spend many weekends skiing and riding in Summit County. He skis for pleasure and acquired his love of the sport at Big Bear and Tahoe. He is also passionate about cycling and spends countless hours on two wheels.
