Spring Programs

Spring Indoor Cycling and Strength Program

The goal of the spring indoor cycling and strength program is to maximize athletic performance and reduce injuries encountered during participation in all sports. This is accomplished through improvements in mobility, flexibility, postural enhancements, absolute strength, and power production.

Program Details
Age / Grade Level: 5th – 8th (Current school year grade)


Program Dates: 

  • Session 1: March 27th – April 26th (no sessions during the week of April 17th)
  • Session 2: May 1st – May 24th 


Days and Times

  • Mondays: 4:30 – 6 – Indoor Cycling (Hopefully we can move outdoors during session II)
  • Wednesdays: 3:30 – 5  – Strength and Conditioning
  • Location: Copper MTN Human Performance Center Snowbridge Square 760 Copper Rd Copper Mountain, CO 80443
  • Cost:  One (1) day a week training option – $80 per session  

(Must choose either Monday OR Wednesday, no switching between days)
Two (2) days a week training option – $150 per session

Required Gear:

  • Water bottle
  • Small snack
  • Closed-toe shoes: bring bike shoes for indoor cycling days
  • Activewear clothes

  • 1 day discount for both sessions is $145
  • 2 day discount for both sessions is $275

 

Spring Trips and Races

Fruita Spring Break Trip

The goal of this trip is to get riders out for a weekend of riding in spring to get our legs and lungs ready for summer. For those riders who hope to improve their cycling shape for the summer season, this is a great start. It’s also a great opportunity to bond with fellow peers, eat good food and talk about the summer season we want to have together. Expect to ride for 3 days straight from 4/20 – 4/23 during this trip, each day totaling around 10 – 15 miles.


Trip Details
Trip Dates: 4/19 – 4/23
Age / Grade Level: 5th – 8th (Current school year)
Ability: Intermediate to advanced riders, Must be able to confidently ride up and down intermediate (blue) and advanced (black) single-track trails and features and have an understanding of basic MTB fundamentals.  This is NOT an intro to MTB skills trip.
Location: We have group camping reserves at 18 Rd. North Fruita Desert. RV’s, pull behinds, and vans all welcomed!
Cost: $250 for whole trip or $75 per day **Transporatation not included in trip

The following is required for the spring break trip:

Bike: All athletes must be on a good fitting bike with 24”+ wheels.  Pay attention to grips, bar-ends, chain, tires, and suspension. No peddle brakes or kickstands allowed.
Helmet! A properly fitting helmet that’s in good condition with no cracks, dents, or other damange. We recommend helmets be replaced at least every 2 years.
Gear:
Required: Raincoat, backpack or water bottle/camelbak, spare tube for their tire size, two tire levers, and a mini pump (make sure pump fits their tube valves – check for presta or schrader.
Optional, but recommended: Gloves, glasses, knee pads

Fandango Race + Day Trip

Rattler Racing is excited to be hosting the Fandango XC race in Bailey, CO. The course delivers everything you would expect from a XC mountain bike race. It’s a 5 mile world cup style course packed with solid climbing, twisty turns, short technical sections, and fun descents. Year after year this race is voted one of the best MTB races in Colorado, come see why. 

We’ll be traveling as a team to participate in the race together. After the race, we’ll explore other trails in the area, grab  team lunch and maybe go for a hike?!

Grades: 5th – 8th (Current school year)
Ability: Intermediate to advanced riders with an interest in racing
Location: Bailey, CO
Cost: $75

The following is required for the day trip:

Bike: All athletes must be on a good fitting bike with 24”+ wheels.  Pay attention to grips, bar-ends, chain, tires, and suspension. No peddle brakes or kickstands allowed.
Helmet! A properly fitting helmet that’s in good condition with no cracks, dents, or other damange. We recommend helmets be replaced at least every 2 years.

Required: Raincoat, backpack or water bottle/camelbak, spare tube for their tire size, two tire levers, and a mini pump (make sure pump fits their tube valves – check for presta or schrader.
Optional, but recommended: Gloves, glasses, knee pads
Snacks: Healthy lunch + Snacks such as homemade granola bars, pretzels, peanut butter and jelly sandwich, fruit leathers, honey stinger waffles and gels, dried bananas or apples, trail mix, fruit pouches, rice cakes.

 

Salida Day Trip

The goal of this trip is to get our riders out for a day of riding to help knock the dust out our legs and to start getting in some miles. For those riders who hope to improve their cycling shape for summer season, this is a great start. We will be putting in about 12-16 miles on during this trip, while including breaks for lunch and other team activities.

Date and Time: 5/13 from 7am – 5pm
Age / Grade Level: 5th – 8th (Current school year)
Ability: Intermediate to advanced riders, Must be able to confidently ride up and down intermediate (blue) and advanced (black) single-track trails and features and have an understanding of basic MTB fundamentals. This is NOT an intro to MTB skills trip.
Location: Salida Methodist and Arkansas Trail Systems.
Cost: $75

Iron Horse Classic Race + Durango, Cortez and Dolores Team Camp

This is our final tream camp and trip for the spring season. The goal of this trip is to get riders out for a weekend of riding in Durango, Cortez and Dolores. For those riders who hope to improve their cycling shape for the summer season, this is a great start. We’ll spend Saturday and Sunday riding local trails. On Monday, riders who sign sign up for the Iron Horse Classic race, will get coaching support before and during their event. We’ll also be participating in and spectating the weekend events during the Iron Horse Classic, a classic Durango ride/race using trails within the Horse Gulch system.

Camp Details
Dates: May 26th-29th
Grades: 5th – 8th (Current school year)
Ability: Intermediate to advanced riders
Cost: $175
Location: Camping in Durango at Junction Creek Campground. We have a group site booked that allows max 18’ vehicles. Tents, cars, trucks and vans preferred. It’s a tight space and anything larger than that will have a hard time getting in and out. If you plan to bring a large vehicle or camping unit for the weekend, you’ll need to book a single site.
