Intro to Team Summit Updates
November 11th, 2020
Dear Parents,
I am sending this to all of you that have a 5 or 6 yr old signed up for our ITS program. I am very excited that your child is part of our Team Summit family. I want this first time experience to be one that is fun and enjoyable for them! As you are aware, it has been a very challenging year for all of us with the adjustments we have had to make due to Covid. I would like you to be aware of some of the unique circumstances that we are encountering with our resorts at this present time. I am concerned for our young athletes as the adjustments the resorts have made will affect our youngest members more than anyone else. Below is what I am aware of as of today.
Lodges:
We have been told that we can bring the athletes into the lodges to use the bathroom only. We are not allowed to congregate in the lodges. We plan to eat outside on the warmer days. Your children are welcome to have lunch with you in the car. We have a small clubhouse at Copper that the kids will be able to have a 20 min lunch at. A few of the items we are encouraging this season are extra layers, hand warmers, boot-heaters, and heated socks. We will discuss a plan for much colder days at orientation.
Lifts:
From what I am currently hearing, I would expect the lift capacity to be:
Max of 3 individuals on a 6 man chair.
Max of 2 on a quad.
Max of 2 on a triple.
Max of 1 on a double.
It is likely that your child will often be riding the lift without their coach or another adult. The children will need to tell the attendant to put the bar down for them. If you are not comfortable with your child riding the lift without an adult, you should consider delaying joining for another season. In addition, the requirements of our COVID-19 era operations limit our group size, so we are unable to accommodate parents tagging along with a group to assist with lift riding.
We will have more detailed information at our Virtual Family Orientation this Saturday morning beginning at 9 am. More information can be found by visiting teamsummit.org/familyorientation.
Best regards,
Theresa
