Alpine Updates – November 25th, 2020
Dear Team Summit Alpine Community:
As is customary at this time of year; reflection of the things we are thankful for leads us to appreciate how fortunate we are to be able to provide our athletes the opportunity to engage in a healthy outdoor activity, improve their skills and pursue their dreams.
Thank you to our resort hosts, especially Copper Mountain over these initial 5 weeks of skiing and training. Thank you to our dedicated coaching staff who share their knowledge and passion every day and especially to our dedicated athletes and families for sharing your time with us.
Ski Racing Devo kicks off the season with the first day coming up on Saturday December 5! Look for detailed schedules and other information from Head Coach Samantha Streletsky.
The TSC Masters Program also kicks off for the season on December 5 with training at Keystone. Whether you plan to race or not, running gates is a great way to improve your skiing as well as gain appreciation for what our young athletes are experiencing! All “Unlimited Training” Masters members are exempted from the Vail Resort reservation system for all training days Wednesday through Sunday. https://teamsummit.org//join-t
Information is becoming available regarding competition calendars including races Team Summit has the opportunity to host this season. We will be leaning heavily on our membership to help with running these races. More on this opportunity below.
More than ever, with the spike of infections and resulting tightening of restrictions, it is imperative that we do all we can to reduce the risk of infection, keep our community safe and preserve the opportunity to pursue the sport we love:
– Stay home when not feeling well
– Masks on whenever not skiing
– Maintain 6’ of separation at all times
– Wash hands often
Be well, stay healthy and Happy Thanksgiving!

Competition Calendar and Race Hosting
More of this year’s races have been scheduled and sited. Updates have been made to the Team Summit Calendars found on our website: https://teamsummit.org//member
There are a number of races Team Summit has been awarded by RMD and are awaiting final approval from the host resorts. Racing at home is a great opportunity for our racers to compete in familiar surroundings (like a home game), save travel and lift ticket expenses and for families to log volunteer hours.
Races tentatively assigned to Team Summit for hosting in the 2020-21 Season:
Jan 11-12: Age Class GS/SL – Keystone
Jan 25: YSL GS – Keystone
Feb 22-23: Sync Devo GS/SL – Keystone
March 8-9: FIS Devo GS – Breckenridge
March 10-11: FIS SL – Keystone
March 22: YSK Kombi – Keystone
Most volunteer positions do not require expertise, however, certified race officials are needed to fill some roles. Currently, RMSRO (The Rocky Mountain Ski Race Officials Association) is not conducting new official certification, however, the on-line CO (Alpine Official) certification is available as an introduction to officiating and a pre-requisite to higher level certification. You can find the course document here: https://usskiandsnowboard.org
Any TSC member completing the certification process will receive a half day’s work deposit credit. Volunteering at races is a great way to be supportive of your young athlete's sport experience!

Virtual Ski ball
Join us for the 40th Annual Ski Ball [Virtual] presented by iFurnish
Featuring a complimentary live auction, silent auction, and programming ticket, make your evening a night to remember with our dinner options and more!
The Ski Ball is Team Summit's largest fundraiser for our scholarship fund benefiting at-need families.
Your complimentary ticket includes access to both the Silent and Live auctions!
Elevate your experience by hosting your own private dinner party with your choice of Chicken Piccata, Rocky Mountain Trout Roulade, or Tender Braised Beef from Copper Mountain Banquets.
This virtual gathering is a momentous event for Team Summit’s need-based scholarship program. We believe every athlete should have an opportunity to chase their dreams no matter what their financial situation may be. Thanks to the support of our community leaders, last year’s gala raised over $100,000 for our athletes.
