Alpine Updates – December 10th, 2020

Dear Team Summit Alpine Community:

We recognize that the COVID induced protocols and new procedures place an additional strain on all our members and staff.

Our resort partners at A-Basin, Vail Resorts and Copper Mountain have gone to extraordinary lengths to facilitate Team Summit programs and athletes to continue to enjoy their resorts, TSC to provide programming and everyone to enjoy healthy outdoor activities. Exemptions from reservations systems, dedicated facilities for our kids to warm-up, exclusive pick up and drop off areas (never mind providing discounted passes and space for our training) are just a few of the commitments made to our families that in some cases have ENHANCED the athlete experience.

In return, we ask all of our membership to diligently follow protocols.

In addition to the primary health protocols of mask wearing, lift riding and physical distancing, respect for the drop-off and pick-up locations and procedures is critically important.

Copper Mountain
Drop-off and pick-up for programs meeting in Center Village is the Beeler Lot.
Drop off and pick-up for programs meeting in the East Village is the Wheeler Lot.
Drop-off and pick-up for Team Summit Athletes is NO LONGER allowed at the Flyer Lot, Ten Mile Circle or Wheeler Circle.

Please note that parking is only allowed in these lots if space is available and payment is made. Limit your time in the lot to 5-10 minutes only. You may not use the drop-off locations for warming up, having lunch or otherwise lingering for more than 10 minutes.

Thank you very much for your attention to this. It is not difficult to identify Team Summit athletes and families wherever we are in the resorts. We receive extraordinary generosity from our resorts which is not an entitlement. We earn that support through our actions every day whether on-snow, visiting shops or wandering the village. Thank you all for contributing to the positive relationships we enjoy!

Keystone
Programming for Ski Race Devo begins in Keystone this weekend and for Masters in the next week or so. Procedures will be communicated by the respective Head Coach.

Read on below for exciting opportunities at Copper Mt. and with our Masters Program.

Be well, stay healthy and happy!

Training December 15-21 for Ability and Age Class Teams
Registration of intent for training sessions will continue until further notice. Please refer to the nightly training email with details for the following day.

IN ORDER TO BE ABLE TO PLAN FOR TRAINING EACH DAY, EVERY ATHLETE MUST INDICATE THEIR INTENT FOR EVERY DAY AND EVERY SESSION THAT IT IS POSSIBLE FOR THEM TO ATTEND ON THE SIGN-UP SHEET.

The sign-up sheet for December 8-14 is open. The deadline for sign-up is end of day, Sunday December 13. It will not be possible to make individual changes after the deadline. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1zC3Q6xukYBzoKCU3oZ3_g3UnbGNMSP2PszypaGVYSFo/edit?usp=sharing

Calendars
For ski racing Devo, please refer to your calendar at the Team Summit website: https://teamsummit.org//members/calendars/intro-race.

Age Class, U16 and FIS athletes will continue to receive nightly email messages at approximately 7PM with training details for the following day.

Premier Pass
Copper mountain offers a “Premier Pass” that provides access to a special line at the American Eagle, American Flyer, Super Bee, Excellerator, Woodward Express and Timberline Express. The Premier Pass also allows early lift access on the Eagle 30 minutes before the scheduled daily opening. https://www.coppercolorado.com/plan-your-trip/season-passes/premier-pass-2020

As additional evidence of the incredible support to Team Summit by our host Copper Mountain, a discounted Premier Pass is offered to our Ability Program and Age Class Program athletes for $150! The regular price for this pass add-on is $399 for Teen/Child and $599 for Adult.

This provides incredible value for our athletes and is a recommended purchase.

Athletes will have the option to upload early, cut lines on busy days on the lifts we most frequently ride and be able to separate themselves from the majority of mountain guests in lift line.

Team Summit Member Services Manager Lili Strachan will be sending each of our Comp Program (PG, Ability, Age Class) athletes a voucher that will allow them to purchase this pass add-on at the same customer service desk where passes were purchased or picked up.

Sprongo
Athletes have received an email with an invitation to their team. Please accept this invitation and create a profile in order to be able to view video as it is posted by your coaches and allow us to properly tag users so videos display in the athlete’s personal video feed. Please use the athlete’s PROPER first and last name when setting up your profile… not a nickname or alias. This has to do with a new tagging feature that is being developed in Sprongo.

Some accounts have been created with a parent name as the title. Please change this to the athlete’s name:

Log in to your account.
Click on the down arrow in the upper right corner where the account name is displayed
Choose Settings
Change name to the athlete's name
Click Save.
Each athlete account must have a unique email address. Unused pre-existing accounts may also be deleted in the settings.

A third batch invitation has been sent today. Proper tagging will not be possible until the invitation has been accepted and a user profile has been created with the athlete’s first and last name in the account title.

The invitations have been sent to the athlete email that is registered in Campminder. If you would like to use a different email account, please send an email with the title “Sprongo” to aldo@teamsummit.org from the account you would like to use. An invitation will be generated manually for you to join and create the athlete account.

World Cup Video
Watching World Cup video is a powerful learning tool. Take some time nightly before going to bed to watch a few of your favorite athletes to prepare for the next day’s training.

A sampling of skiers and disciplines from last year’s World Cup races and additional training examples are available as a playlist in your team’s home page on Sprongo. Enjoy!

Masters Training
Learning to carve turns and train in courses is a great way to improve your skiing skills! For those parents who did not race during their youth, this is a great way to experience what their children do every day and gain appreciation for proper tuning, physical demands, concentration and so on.

Information about Team Summit’s Masters Program is available on our website: https://teamsummit.org//join-team-summit/programs/team-summit-masters

A season long program for $1,200, 10 day punch pass for $500 and single day drop-in options at $75 per day are available. Any Masters Program participant who enrolls for the season long program will have their Epic Pass exempted from the reservation system for the season.

As a special offer, Master’s Head Coach Matt Fox will provide one complimentary training day for any interested Team Summit Parent! Daily access to this introductory offer is limited and a reservation with either Vail Resorts (Pass reservation) or Copper Mountain (Parking reservation) and Coach Matt are required. Please contact Matt for details matt@teamsummit.org.
