Alpine Updates – September 17th, 2021

Dear Team Summit Alpine Community (All Alpine SRD, Age Class and Ability Parents; All U16 and Older athletes; All Alpine Coaches):

Coaches will be present to help with equipment decisions during these times. Registration is required – see below for event information and registration and a link to manufacturer’s product information, sizing charts, sponsorship information and catalogs.

U14 and older athletes are invited to participate in the RMD Skills Quest Fitness Evaluation on Sunday October 17 – Full-Time Athletes are expected to attend. Please indicate your plans in TeamSnap. DEADLINE IS SATURDAY SEPTEMBER 25.Additional information follows.

The Ability Calendar has been updated through December 13 with on-snow training. The Age Class Calendar will be updated in the next few days. Please indicate your skiing plans in Team Snap ASAP to allow us to plan the appropriate training space and staffing.

On-Snow Training for Age Class and Ability athletes is scheduled to begin 5 weeks from today! As is always the case this time of the year, the training environment can be fluid. Weather and snow conditions, the amount of available terrain and the needs of visiting teams can all impact schedules and training content. We work hard to minimize the number of changes but some modifications are inevitable. Thank you all for your patience and understanding!

At this time, the final race calendar is NOT available. As soon as dates and locations are finalized, the information will be shared with the entire Team Summit Alpine community. The calendar and individual race announcements will always be posted and updated on the RMD page of the US Ski and Snowboard website:https://usskiandsnowboard.org/sport-programs/regions-divisions/rocky-central-alpine-region/rocky-alpine-division-calendar.

Finally, please check your registration status with US Ski and Snowboard. All SRD, Age Class and Ability athletes must have an “Alpine Competitor” License to compete.

From the US Ski and Snowboard Project Notice:
During National Team led SkillsQuest-Fitness events, the overwhelming priority of U.S. Ski & Snowboard is the health and safety of all athletes, coaches, staff and parents.

The effort to run SkillsQuest-Fitness on a large, national scale during a global pandemic with a highly transmissible Delta Variant has been made possible by the widespread vaccination efforts and the preventative policies put in place by the national team and our member clubs across the country.

In order to protect the communities and people involved that are working to make national SkillsQuest-Fitness events a reality this season – both the athletes participating in testing, as well as the staff, many of whom are volunteering their time – we will be enforcing our previously publicly announced policy (posted on our website 8/13/2021) that proof of vaccinations will be required for all National Team projects. This policy is in line with both the CDC and World Health Organization recommendations for large gatherings.

Any athlete that has been or is hoping to get invited to NDG projects, including in season European projects in January and March will need to test and pass with a 550 for women and 700 for men by November 1st.
