Alpine Updates - October 6th, 2021

Dear Team Summit Alpine SRD, Age Class and Ability Parents; All U16 and Older athletes; Alpine Coaches:

Many of you have been asking for and patiently awaiting this season’s race calendar.

This year, COVID restrictions regarding field size and other health limitations have been lifted as of October 1. At this time, there are no ski area or local restrictions that should affect the race calendar. Calendar information below.

Team Summit has been awarded the opportunity to host a number of competitions. Our goal is to have at least one event at each level (YSL, Age Class, Sync and FIS) to provide our racers the opportunity to race at home on familiar venues, as well as, save expense for hotels, restaurant meals, travel and lift tickets.

Hosting events also carries a responsibility for Team Summit and our membership to staff the many volunteer positions needed to conduct an event. Both skilled (certified officials) and non-skilled volunteers are needed. These are great opportunities to be “behind the scenes” producing the race and be able to be productively involved in your child’s activities. Please check the volunteer sign-up for volunteering opportunities.

Team Summit is seeking to increase the number of certified officials within its membership. A deeper involvement and understanding of the sport and engagement with the club and its races are among the benefits. Resorts we race at are often recruiting visiting officials providing access to the races, complimentary tickets, lunch and so on. Information about the certification process will be in an upcoming update or you can go to the Rocky mountain Ski Race Officials site to learn more: http://rmsro.org

Team Summit partner shops Podium Sports and The Racers Edge and, for our front range families, the Denver Sports Lab are offering economical options for professional initial ski set-up and on-going maintenance. Details below.

Please reach out to your respective Head Coaches with any questions.

See you on Zoom or on-snow soon!

REMINDER - Education Series: Equipment Set-Up and Maintenance
Now that you have bought or ordered equipment for the season, the real fun starts!

To maximize the performance of your equipment and ensure that every day of skiing is as productive as possible, the proper set-up of boots and skis followed by daily maintenance of skis is critical. This is the area where parents can make the most significant impact on their children’s progress and where athletes U14 and older can remove a critical variable determining progress towards your goals.

An educational Zoom will be offered to present information and answer questions on Thursday October 7 from 5:30 – 6:15 PM. Please join using the following meeting information:
