On-snow training begins on Friday, October 25!
With this week’s cold temperatures and snowmaking, the projected opening day for training at Copper Mountain is virtually guaranteed! Please check your respective calendars for the first few days of on-snow training and details. Calendars will be updated for the remainder of October and November in the next 10 days.
Please be aware that during the Early Season Training Period (October 25 – December 8) schedules can change suddenly due to demand and available terrain and timeslots for training. While we try to not change the schedule once the calendar has been published it is sometimes unavoidable.
Please check the calendar in advance of each day of training.
RMD Skills Quest Conditioning Assessment Sign-up
We will be attending the Divisional Skills Quest testing as a team on Sunday, October 27 at the Minturn Fitness Center. This will be an RMD conducted assessment with the assistance of Human Performance staff from US Ski and Snowboard in Park City.
This will be the final Skills Quest Conditioning assessment we administer or participate in this fall. The assessment provides an opportunity to gauge progress through the fall and measures against others in RMD. There will not be any Ability on-snow training on this day as all staff will be in Minturn.
There will be a charge for the van transportation based on the number of athletes who sign up on the sign-up sheet. There are no other fees or charges. Below is a link to the TSC Travel Planning form for this event:
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1OU4vs1_nmpf1Ef9BYJSPRMaO5SnlJKuB7yvLt9_blUU/edit?usp=sharing
Whether you are planning to attend or have a conflict and are unable, PLEASE go to the form and follow the instructions for signing up to participate and ride in the team van. You are asked to put “1” in the column to indicate your participation in the event/van ride or a “0” if not participating.
This is the form that ALL team travel is planned with throughout the season. For each event, there will be an “x” in the column labeled “Rec.” for those athletes recommended to participate in a specific event. All anticipated costs for transportation, housing, etc. are listed on the form. The spreadsheet will calculate the trip costs in real-time. All charges will be billed prior to travel commencing.
Thanks in advance for your diligence in responding in the travel planning form as soon as you receive the link and prior to the deadlines!
Goal Setting and Meetings
Attached to this message you will find the goal-setting sheet. Please take some time to reflect and be thoughtful about your responses. These are your personal goals to discuss with coaches and will not be shared unless you choose to do so on your own.
Once you have completed the sheet please return it to Doug, Jared or Aldo at training or scan and email. We will schedule a goal setting conference once we have your goal sheet.
Ability Program Pot-Luck
All athletes and parents are invited to a team pot luck on Saturday, November 2 from 5:30-7:30 PM. Thank you to Jake, Kelley and Bob for hosting! This will be a team social event with no agenda other than to kick off the season with fun, friendship and food.

Summer Training Video on Hudl
We are transitioning to Hudl Technique https://www.hudl.com/products/technique as our platform to capture, review and share a video. Those of you who attended an on-snow training camp this summer have been sent an email at the address that is on-file in Campminder. Please respond to the invitation by setting up a FREE athlete account.
The remainder will receive an invite when we first capture video once on-snow.

Possible U16 Training and Competition Trip to Vermont in December
We are recommending a weeklong training and competition trip to Vermont in Early December for those U16’s who qualified last year for their respective age group championships. This trip will include 2days of training in both SL and GS followed by a USSA race in each discipline. Training and racing will be at Sugarbush North and Stratton Mountain the home areas of GMVS and SMS.
This will be a great opportunity to experience training and racing in the East ahead of the first Sync races and visiting resorts that are regular hosts to important FIS competitions.
Schedule:
December 2 – Travel
December 3, 4 – Train SL at Sugarbush North
December 5 – SL Race
December 6, 7 – Train GS at Stratton Mountain Resort
December 8 – GS Race
December 9 – Travel
Please reach out to Aldo and Jared with your expression of interest and any questions you have.
*The above opportunities are the ONLY viable travel opportunities this season for both U16 and FIS that are outside of the normal regional calendar and championship qualification pipeline.
