Dear Team Summit Alpine Community (All Alpine SRD, Age Class and Ability Parents; All U16 and Older athletes; All Alpine Coaches):
This is the first Alpine Update distributed through our new calendaring and communications platform Demosphere! Please remember that you will find recent Alpine Updates in the Blog section of our website here: https://teamsummit.org//Blog/topic/1370/alpine%20update
Thank you all for helping with our migration to Demosphere. The coaches and administration are learning along with all of you how to most effectively navigate and utilize this platform. Our goal is to have all calendaring and communications for Team Summit to utilize this platform in place of individual emails, texts or other messaging. Beginning with the 2023-24 season all registration, billing and other membership services will also utilize Demosphere.
We have many events upcoming including the Family Orientation, Ski Swap and officials’ certification opportunities this weekend, races we are hosting in January, February and March and more!

PLAYMETRICS
We have recently had some missed messages, chats or alerts. Our apologies if you’ve been impacted by this. Demosphere offers many help files to ensure that your account is set up to provide you messages in the way that you prefer. Here is a useful guide for account set-up: https://playmetrics.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/360024939913-Setting-Up-Your-Account-Parents-Players
Please note that all calendared training and racing is set up in Demosphere as “Other Events” not “Practices” or “Games”.
We are also researching some possible system glitches and will inform members with any information.
VOLUNTEERING
Volunteerism to help with club events and activities is a foundational principle of Team Summit and integral to containing costs and improving accessibility.
In particular, volunteer support is needed to help us with races we are hosting throughout the winter. Annually, we submit bids to host races for each our Alpine teams to ensure that each of our Al[pine athletes is able to race at home, reduce travel and other expenses and benefit from racing on familiar venues. This year we are hosting races for YSL, Age Class, Sync and FIS at Keystone and Breckenridge. Additionally, our resort partners at Copper Mountain are hosting FIS and Nor-Am Competitions that we may be asked to help support.
All of our hosted races are listed with their associated volunteer opportunities and can be accessed through your Campminder account. Please see the document and video below for morer information and to volunteer. THANK YOU FOR YOUR GENEROUS CONTRIBUTIONS OF TIME AND ENERGY!

OFFICIALS’ CERTIFICATION
Some volunteer positions such as Start Referee, Finish Referee, Chief of Race, Chief of Course or Race Administrator require Officials’ Certification. We have a severe shortage of Certified Officials within our club membership.
The Rocky Mountain Ski Race Officials (RMSRO) are conducting officials’ training and certification this weekend. Conveniently, this certification for all of Rocky Mountain Division (RMD) of US Ski and Snowboard (USSS) is being hosted at The Peak School in Summit County. You can find information about RMSRO and sign-up here: http://rmsro.org. You will also find information about satellite certifications in Boulder and Vail here: http://rmsro.org/satellite-clinics/
The prerequisite to becoming an official is to complete the Certified Official (CO) training. You will find the educational materials, Quiz and Quiz Instructions here: http://rmsro.org/education-materials/. When you have read the educational materials and completed the simple quiz, bring it with you when attending a clinic or you may return it by email to: ken.gay@hotmail.com
Referee (Ref) and Jury Advisor (JA) candidates participate in the same clinic. Participants can choose whether to take the Ref test or the shorter and simpler JA test. Successfully completing the course and passing the test result ion certification. “Follow days” are recommended but no longer required as part of certification.
JA can serve as Start or Finish Referee.
Ref can also serve as Chief of Race or Chief of Course.
Race Administrator (RA) candidates must complete the CO course and RA certification.
Please reach out to aldo@teamsummit.org with questions.
FAMILY ORIENTATION
The Team Summit Family Orientation takes place at the Copper Conference Center on Saturday November 12. The schedule for the day is found here: https://teamsummit.org//FamilyOrientation.
Please plan to attend the introduction at 9:00AM and program specific meetings at 12:00PM for Age Class and Ability or 1:00PM for Ski Racing Devo.
SKI SWAP
The annual ski swap will be conducted throughout the weekend at the Copper Mountain Conference Center. The ski swap is a great opportunity to buy or sell used equipment. Good values can be found on race skis, free-skiing skis, rock skis and other desired equipment you may still need to find. Information on ttimes, equipment consignment and other details is found here: https://teamsummit.org//swap
