Alpine Updates – August 20, 2021

Dear Team Summit Alpine Community (All Alpine SRD, Age Class and Ability Parents; All U16 and Older athletes; All Alpine Coaches):

These periodic Alpine Program updates contain news about the Alpine Program, upcoming activities and other important information. Together with the information provided in the Alpine section of the Team Summit Website {CCM:BASE_URL}/Alpine, our hope is to provide you with all the information you will need to have throughout the season. Please take time to review all available information and don’t hesitate to reach when additional questions remain.
Updates will continue to be archived in the Blog section at the Team Summit website: {CCM:BASE_URL}/Blog/topic/276/alpine%20racing

The respective Head Coaches will also be providing more detailed specific program information such as race schedules, detailed training information and more as it becomes available.

Today’s high elevation dusting of snow reminds us the ski season is not far away https://www.coppercolorado.com/the-mountain/webcams/mountain/excelerator-cam. Its only 64 days to the planned opening of early season training at Copper Mountain!

As students begin their school year, we look ahead to the beginning of dryland training for our full time Academy athletes and the start of on-snow training for all our Ability and Age Class athletes at the end of October. SRD athletes will have several weekend dryland training sessions this fall and begin their on-snow training in December as the ski season gets under way.

Also coming up in a month’s time is the annual Colorado Competition Council equipment sale that will be hosted in Summit County for the first time! This is THE time to address equipment needs for the season.

This winter, resorts are planning to return to a non-restricted environment and plans are to return to weekend competition for most races depending on the age group and ability level. As we learn to manage our public health situation we look forward to a more “normal” season of skiing, training and racing.

Read on for details on the above items and more!

We look forward to seeing all of you in the coming days and weeks!

Aldo

Communication
Team Summit Alpine utilizes several platforms for communication with our membership, calendaring and Instant Messaging. Our goal is to provide you with the information that you need throughout the season and avoid unnecessary phone calls, individual emails or after hours texts.

Website
The Alpine section of the Team Summit has current information regarding everything to general annual schedules, training locations, equipment needs and season passes.

Campminder
Email messages (such as this one) are generated utilizing the database of information submitted by you and maintained in your member account. Please be sure that you keep information such as email addresses and phone numbers current so as to not miss important communications. Athletes 14 and older (U16) receive emails, as well as, all parents of the respective teams (SRD, Age Class and Ability Class) as indicated in your account.

Team Snap
Daily calendaring of training and racing is posted in TeamSnap for your respective team. Calendar details are intended to provide you with all the information needed for the training session. Once training is posted, members are requested to indicate their plans to attend by selecting “Going” or “No” so coaches know who to expect when planning training and meeting groups (please do not use “Maybe”). Calendars will be posted two or more weeks in advance. Notification of any changes within 24 hours of the event will be sent when made.

Instant Messaging for any last minute program changes will be done utilizing Team Snap Alerts. These will be used sparingly and only in unavoidable situations.

The “Chat” feature can be used by members to coordinate rides or dinners, find missing items, etc. but will NOT be monitored or responded to by coaches.

It is important that you update your account with current information and choose how you wish to receive notifications and communications.

Voice, Email and Text
Private conversations with coaches can take place in person, by phone or by text. Please make every effort to find the necessary information in the calendar, regular updates or on the Team Summit website before reaching out with questions. Please schedule a meeting for important conversations and respect coaches’ personal time and regular work hours. Coaches are asked to respond to messages within 48 hours whenever possible.

Meetings and Education
Organized team meetings in person or via video call are scheduled periodically to provide program information and education on topics such as program philosophy, equipment preparation, race procedures and so forth. Please try to participate in these meetings or review recordings to reduce the need for individual calls or follow up.
