Alpine Updates – July 31st, 2020
Dear Alpine Academy Athletes and all FIS and U16 Athletes and Parents:
This week we will take a break from the Conditioning Zooms. The Summer Conditioning program will begin Monday, June 29 in-person on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday. The twice-weekly Zoom Conditioning will resume every Tuesday and Thursday beginning Tuesday, June 30. Both programs will continue through August 18.

Summer Conditioning Program
Dates: June 29 – August 18, 2020
Days: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday
Times: 8:00 – 11:00 AM
Where: Summit Middle School (SMS)
Who: All FIS and U16 Athletes, U14 Academy Athletes Invited
The Summer Conditioning Program will include a varied daily program including the development of proper lifting techniques in preparation for building strength and learning Olympic lifts. Each day will begin with foam rolling, mobility, and movement prep. Next will be an activity from the US Ski and Snowboard Skills Quest (https://my.ussa.org/alpine-pr
Strength work will begin with bar patterns and include 2-3 Olympic lifts and ground-based lower body strength work. Following lifting, will be field activities interspersed with track work and finishing with a static stretching session to wrap up.
All conditioning activities will take place outdoors in order to minimize transmission risk for COVID-19.
Additional COVID-19 Protocols that will be followed:
– All athletes and coaches will be subject to a COVID screening upon arrival
– Following the screening, every athlete will be provided with hand sanitizer prior to touching any equipment
– Masks must be worn at all times unless impeding breathing while exercising
– The physical distancing of at least 6’ (The length of one of the Olympic Bars) must be maintained at all times
– Following training, all equipment touchpoints will be wiped down with a mild beach solution
Should inclement weather create a need to cancel a training session, Coach Jack will contact all regularly participating Alpine athletes by text between 7:00-7:15AM. In the event of light rain, activities will be modified for the weather. PLEASE dress appropriately.
All training will take place outdoors at SMS. When arriving, drive past the tennis courts to the back of the building. You will see the area set up with lifting platforms there.
Bring:
– Appropriate clothing for outdoor training (dress in layers)
– Shoes for lifting and field drills
– Water and snacks
The summer conditioning program is included in the full-time 2020-21 programs for PG, FIS, U16, and U14. Part-time athletes are encouraged to participate for an additional $475 fee for the summer. Sign-up is on Campminder. No sign-up is required for registered PG, FIS Academy, U16 Academy, or U14 Academy Athletes.
Conditioning Zoom For all Academy Athletes and all FIS and U16 Athletes
Conditioning Zooms will resume on Tuesday, June 30 at 3:30 PM and every Tuesday and Thursday through August 18. All athletes are invited to participate as part of your summer conditioning program
Please warm-up properly a half-hour (3:00-3:30) before the workout starts at 3:30.
10-15 minute bike/jog
5-10 minute foam roll
10 minute mobility walks
