Volunteer Opportunities for Freeski Devo

Freeski Volunteer Updates – January 29th, 2020 Hi AGAIN parents! I wanted to send an email out regarding volunteering for the club in order to fulfill VSF hours for the season. Your help volunteering for TSC hosted events is so vital to the success of our organization and we honestly cannot put these events on without your help. Please know that we would much rather have your help at our events instead of receiving the VSF attached to athlete tuition. Not only is volunteering how you receive a refund or credit for your VSF, but it is THE very best way for you to get involved as a...

Moguls Updates – Jan. 27, 2020

Moguls Updates – January 27th, 2020 Hey crew! I heard it was a great weekend in Telluride and all of our skiers did awesome! Tons of ribbons and great skiing from all of the athletes that went down. I want to send a special thanks to coach Myles! He did a great job leading our Team Summit crew in T-Ride. We had 4 of our RQS skiers in Vail at the RMD move up event. They all skied great and stood up runs on a very powdery course on Cookshack. Way to show up with your chins held high and show the older athletes what’s coming there a way in the next few years.  *[If you...

December's Athlete of the Month – Owen McKibbin

Owen exemplifies what it means to be a team player. He is caring and works hard to support his teammates. It is not uncommon for Owen to take time to help his teammates in competition or practice.  Notably, Owen recently took time from his own training to help some upcoming freeskiers prepare for a USASA contest. He is always engaging and willing to share his unique set of skills with his teammates.  The Park and Pipe program would be at a loss without Owen’s patience, dedication, and positive attitude. I value Owen's heart and commitment to skiing....

Bar Patterns: Back Squat

Bar Patterns: Back Squat Grasp the bar about 3-4 inches wider than you use in your clean grip. Your hands should be just a little wider apart than your shoulder width. You do not want to hold the bar with a wide grip, this will cause an internal rotation of your shoulders and loss of an upright posture as you lower into the squat. Place the bar on your upper back so it is resting on your trapezius muscles as they are retracted back very tightly. You should not have the bar in contact with any vertebrae as it rests on your upper back. The shoulder retraction contracts your trapezius muscles...

Alpine Ability Updates – January 8, 2020

Alpine Ability Updates – January 8th, 2020 Dear U16 and FIS Athletes and Parents: The Ability Program offers optional "Team Travel" to all competitions for U16 and older members. Athletes may always choose to travel and stay with family or friends if it is more efficient or cost-effective. In all cases, the travel expenses for coaches attending an event, including transportation, lodging, food and misc., will be divided equally among the attending athletes. Travel billing for Team Travel and shared coaches' expenses will be budgeted and charged prior to the...
