C.B. Bechtel – Executive Director – Updated COVID-19 Practice

Updated COVID-19 Practice A few days ago I sent out an update to everyone at Team Summit regarding COVID and our mandatory mask policy/practice at Team Summit.   Today we received disturbing data from Summit County public health. At this time over 20% of Summit County residents have had reported cases of COVID-19 over the last few months. Over 20% of those have had it in the last 7 days. That doesn’t include those who tested positive using a home test that was not reported.   Therefore, effective immediately, Team Summit will be enforcing the following: Masks...

Updates from the Executive Director

Updates from the Executive Director October 28th, 2020 It is an exciting time of year as the cold and natural snow have us poised to begin our on-snow training.  This is what we work for and we are ready. Keep in mind as you read this that we are moving as fast as possible to finalize our operations, but delays in the creation of state and county health guidelines delay our resort partners ability to create their COVID related operating plans, which delays the ability of our governing bodies to schedule competitions, which delays some of our planning. I can tell you that at least...

Critical Updates from the Executive Director

A Letter from CB Bechtel It was thrilling to see snow covering the ground in Summit County this weekend.  For some of our academy programs, we are ten days away from our first on-snow training session.  This is the most beautiful and exciting time of year.  I have two updates to share with you as we continue sorting out our COVID operations for the season.  First, is transportation for our Academy athletes.  We will be able to provide limited van transportation from schools on our academy training days. We are trying to provide these days for those with the most...

Preparing For Everything – A Letter from the Executive Director

Preparing for Everything As we approach the start for the season I am getting more excited every day about what this season will mean. In all of the craziness and changes, we will still have skiing and snowboarding.  And at Team Summit we will do so in a values-based environment with our friends and family. Team Summit and the ski and snowboard season will be a breath of fresh air, literally and figuratively. Over the last two weeks, the Leadership Team has been meeting for several hours every morning to prepare for the many possible scenarios we could face this season. While we only...

A Letter From the Executive Director

As we head into the holiday weekend Team Summit is wrapping up a productive week. But if there's one take-a-way from this week it's flexibility.  Since my last email, we have had two great meetings with Copper Mountain. The main take-a-way is they value Team Summit and they are making accommodations for our programs this season. It is exciting to know and we have begun working internally as well as with resort on both training and competition plans. We are finalizing the details on our MOU over the next few weeks and then we will be ready to begin issuing pass vouchers and other...

A Dusting of Snow – A Letter from the Executive Director

Dear Team Summit Families, As the sun came up this morning on Summit County we welcomed a dusting of snow across the peaks! The countdown to snowmaking is now under 30 days. As we begin the transition from summer to winter, the spirit of Team Summit Colorado and it’s athletes is gaining momentum. Our programs this summer gave me confidence in our leadership to form an amazing experience for all our young athletes. Chris Hughes orchestrated one of the most successful dryland training regiments. The number of athletes who participated in our summer programs more than doubled...
