We are nearing the halfway point of the season. It goes by so fast and the second half is always better than the first half. Skills and confidence are starting to creep up and contests are in full swing. Thank you to everyone who makes the season happen. Coaches bring enthusiasm, patience, and motivation every day, volunteers keep the wheels turning at our events, and parents keep getting the kids healthy snacks all season long. A few days ago I sent out an update to everyone at Team Summit regarding COVID and our mandatory mask policy/practice at Team Summit.
Today we received disturbing data from Summit County public health. At this time over 20% of Summit County residents have had reported cases of COVID-19 over the last few months. Over 20% of those have had it in the last 7 days. That doesn’t include those who tested positive using a home test that was not reported.
Therefore, effective immediately, Team Summit will be enforcing the following:

It is an exciting time of year as the cold and natural snow have us poised to begin our on-snow training. This is what we work for and we are ready.
Keep in mind as you read this that we are moving as fast as possible to finalize our operations, but delays in the creation of state and county health guidelines delay our resort partners ability to create their COVID related operating plans, which delays the ability of our governing bodies to schedule competitions, which delays some of our planning.

Preparing for Everything
As we approach the start for the season I am getting more excited every day about what this season will mean. In all of the craziness and changes, we will still have skiing and snowboarding. And at Team Summit we will do so in a values-based environment with our friends and family.
