ACADEMY COORDINATOR // Part Time Year Round

Position: Academy Coordinator

Reports to: Director of Development
 
About Team Summit Colorado:
Team Summit Colorado is Summit County’s premiere competitive alpine, freeski and snowboard program with 500+ athletes operating on four mountains – Arapahoe Basin, Breckenridge, Copper and Keystone.

 We are a youth development organization empowering our athletes to realize and celebrate their personal podiums through athletics, education, and life skills by participating in innovative programming at our world class venues.

We believe the lessons learned on the mountain through skiing and snowboarding builds world-class athletes and community leaders and will serve the athletes long after their competitive careers are over.

Job Description:

Position Goals and Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will be responsible for cultivating and maintaining relationships with our academic partners, families and the organization; working alongside the Director of Development creating and implementing continuous process improvement initiatives. This position will have the following additional responsibilities including but not limited to:

- Manage and execute the process of how the academy athletes register and works with our academic partners as the liaison for all of Team Summit and our families
- Developing, implementing and maintaining systems, creating content for the academy program website, marketing materials, and recruiting families to the program.
- Works closely with coaches and schools to create a balance of training and school.
- Manage Athlete of the Month November
- March and Academic Athlete of the year.
- Join school committees when appropriate to be apprised and contribute for the well being of the schools and Team Summit.

 

Required Skills

- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills, basic accounting principles knowledge, documentation skills, research and resolution skills, data analysis and multi-tasking skills
- Strong interpersonal skills and communication skills
- Good planning and organizational skills to balance and prioritize work
- Must be well organized, a self-starter and strong work ethic
- Detail oriented, professional attitude, reliable
- Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
- Ability to interact with academic partners and membership in a professional manner
- Ability to work independently and with a team in a fast-paced and high volume environment with emphasis on accuracy and timeliness

 

Other Desirable Qualifications and Skills:
- Experience working in a non-profit environment
- Experience working in the snowsports industry or school system

 

Work Environment:
- Year round part-time position in an office environment averaging 15 to 20 hours per week throughout the year
- May be required to work weekends during the winter season

SNOWBOARD COACH // Full Time Seasonal

Description:

  1. Work with Snowboard Program Director to meet program needs
         - Video
         - Radio
         - Course set-up and tear-down
  2. Practice timely and effective communication with athletes, parents, Program Director, and others as needed.
  3. Implement monthly, weekly, and daily training according to season, conditions, and progression
         - Addresses safety concerns as necessary
  4. Additional tasks
         - Athlete tracking
         - Organizes athlete/parent orientation with Directors
         - Weekly group emails
         - Assist in fundraising and additional activities
         - Schedules and conducts individual goal setting
         - Schedules and conducts team goal settings
         - Tracks progress of both team and individual goals
         - Assist with recruitment as necessary
         - Assist with additional tasks as necessary

Qualifications, Licenses, Certifications 
- Prior experience instructing, coaching or participation in competitions
- US Ski & Snowboard Coaching License or ability to obtain within first year of employment
- CDC Heads Up Traumatic Brain Injury recognition course or ability to complete within first year of employment
- SafeSport certificate ability to obtain within first year of employment 
- CPR & First Aid certification ability to obtain within first year of employment

Schedule 
Mid-October - End of April 
Five days/week plus weekly emails and coach communication
Weekends are a must
Help with special events as needed

- Conduct regular communication with parent groups prior to on-hill trainings
- Support Community Events as needed
- Attend trainings to advance your career through certifications (paid for by Team Summit Colorado)


Duration of Employment
- December through the end of March


Qualifications, Licenses, Certifications 
- Prior experience instructing, coaching or participation in competitions
- PSIA or similar experiences preferred 
- Must have, or be willing to obtain within the first year of employment:
     - CDC Heads Up 
     - SafeSport certificate 
     - CPR & First Aid certification

PARK & PIPE DEVELOPMENT SKI COACH // Part Time Seasonal

Description

Hiring a part time park and pipe coach to help young athletes develop in the discipline. Previous coaching and/or competition experience preferred.  Will aid young teenagers safely navigate terrain parks, competitive environments.
Process oriented coaching philosophy is a must. 

Must love park and pipe skiing.  

Qualifications, Licenses, Certifications 
- Prior experience instructing, coaching or participation in competitions
- US Ski & Snowboard Coaching License or ability to obtain within first year of employment
- CDC Heads Up Traumatic Brain Injury recognition course or ability to complete within first year of employment
