Freeski Updates – September 1st, 2020

Greetings Freeskiers!

Wow, Summer flew by. There is already a chill in the air, the first snow on the peaks and the excitement of the season ahead. Hopefully, you are settling in to the new school "routine" and adjusting to all the changes with style and grace.

There are still many unanswered questions as to what our ski season will look like, but know that our ski area partners are still committed to our goals for training and competition. Stay tuned for updates as we get information as our resort partners scramble to finalize their plans. Obviously, many COVID-19 health protocols will be implemented to keep us all safe.

All things considered, we have had great training Summer. Be it, on snow at Copper Mountain Resort and  Mount Hood, weight training in Summit, mountain biking seemingly everywhere, or airbags and H2O ramps.  Wherever it was, I say "Huge Thank You, Parents!"   Thank you for all the additional travel and effort it took to make camps happen this year and for all the support you provide. We can't do it without you!

Two training opportunities remain, both at the UOP in Park City in September. Airbag Sept 8-10 and H20 Ramps Set 18-20 if anyone wants to join in on the action registration is live https://teamsummit.org//join-team-summit/programs/camp
*Still no Team Travel so parents will need to attend

Congrats to Jeanna Riccomini being named to the USFST in Slopestyle and Big Air! We look forward to many amazing achievements ahead for her!

Also, Congratulations to our RMD Colorado All-Stars: Roxy Patnode, Collin Hassel, Jackson True, Evelyn Harris will be attending a Fitness and H20 ramp assessment in Steamboat Springs Sept 9th and will be able to ski for Free anywhere in Colorado this Winter!

Fall Training-  Look for details on Dryland training opportunities in Denver October 4th and 18th and in Summit Sept 27th and 11th.   Details will be published on our calendar.

Orientation, Ski Swap, and Ski Ball and many events will all take on a different feel due to the pandemic but our fundraising efforts will be more important than ever for Team Summit.   More details on all these events will be released in the coming weeks.  Please do your most to support the virtual events throughout the ski season.

Thank you to the All-Freeski volunteer crew who helped put on the Summer FUN Raising Series!  And thank you to all who attended the series.  As a result, Team Summit Colorado was able to raise additional funds for our Scholarship Program.  If you have any questions regarding scholarships, then please reach out to our Membership Manager for details (membership@teamsummit.org).

We are fortunate to have most of our staff returning this year, it will be mostly familiar faces behind those masks. You will soon be receiving regular emails from Head Coaches but always feel free to reach out to me if you have questions as the season approaches.

Team Summit Freeski will add as much stability we can in the chaos that is 2020. We will stay nimble to do everything possible to make it another amazing year full of fun and growth on and off-hill, I can't wait to see all the action.

Thanks for all you do and I look forward to the year ahead!
