Join the Team: Volunteer With Team Summit This Winter

Winter is When Team Summit Colorado Comes Alive

If you’re part of the Team Summit family, volunteering isn’t just “extra.” It’s how we keep programs accessible, fund scholarships, and give our athletes world-class experiences right here at home. With over 50+ days of on-snow competitions, community events, and major fundraisers like Ski Ball and Eat, Ski, and Be Merry (ESBM), there truly is a spot for everyone.

What Volunteering with Team Summit Looks Like

When you log into the Team Summit portal on POINT, you’ll find four main types of volunteer opportunities:

On-Snow Competitions

  • Gatekeeping
  • Slip crew / course maintenance
  • Start & finish support
  • Scorekeeping / tabulation
  • Registration & timing support

Community Events

  • Bubblegum Races
  • Zeke’s Shredders
  • Annual Ski Swap

Fundraisers

  • Ski Ball
  • Eat, Ski, and Be Merry (ESBM)
  • Event revenue that supports scholarships and programming

Behind-the-Scenes Roles

  • Event prep and teardown
  • Office support and logistics
  • Communications & committee work

No prior experience? Totally fine—training and support are provided at every event.

Ski Ball: Our Biggest Night & Biggest Need

The Annual Ski Ball is Team Summit’s largest fundraiser and one of Summit County’s premier winter galas. For 45 years, it has raised crucial funding for scholarships, facilities, and essential operations.

Ski Ball directly supports:

  • Need-based scholarships
  • World-class programs and facilities
  • Long-term organizational growth

Volunteer roles include:

Before the Event

  • Planning & logistics
  • Sponsorship coordination
  • Auction item procurement & entry

Day-Of & After

  • Setup (decor, signage, auction displays)
  • Guest check-in & ticketing
  • Auction spotters & runners
  • Program/table support
  • Post-event teardown

If you prefer event energy over on-snow work—or want a big chunk of VSF hours in one weekend—Ski Ball is perfect. On POINT, filter for “Ski Ball”.

Competitions: The Heart of Our Mission

From youth races to FIS-level events, competitions are where Team Summit’s mission is most visible. Hosting races helps develop athletes, build community, and keep programs financially sustainable.

Great volunteer fits:

  • FSD Competition Series – great for Devo Snowboard families
  • Summit Foundation Cup Judges – great for Park & Pipe, Moguls, and Snowboard families
  • Fundraising-related roles – directly support operations and athlete access
  • Bubblegum Races – perfect for supporting our youngest athletes

New for 2026, Team Summit will host the Holeshot Tour Ski Cross stop (FIS Continental Cup) and a step-up introduction-to-cross event for interested athletes.

On POINT, look for roles labeled “Keystone NorAm” or SkiCross opportunities.

ESBM: Eat, Ski, and Be Merry

ESBM is one of the most magical nights of the season—a candle-lit tour at the Frisco Nordic Center with bonfires, snacks, drinks, and a warm community vibe. All proceeds support the Nordic Program and Nordic scholarships.

Volunteer roles include:

  • Course & ambiance setup
  • Registration & check-in
  • Food & beverage stations
  • On-course safety & flow
  • Tear-down & cleanup

Search for “Eat, Ski, and Be Merry” or “ESBM” on POINT.

How Volunteering Ties Into Your VSF

When you volunteer, you earn back your Volunteer Service Fee (VSF):

  • Intro & Devo: $300 refunded after 25 hours
  • Comp Programs: $400 refunded after 30 hours
  • Nordic: $300 refunded after 5 Nordic event hours

POINT tracks all hours automatically. At season’s end, you can roll your credit over, donate it back, or request a refund.
