Bike Rodeo & Skills Night
The Team Summit Youth Mountain Bike Program and Silverthorne Elementary recently hosted a free Bike Rodeo & Skills Night, providing local youth with an evening focused on bike safety, skill development, and fun on two wheels.
More than 40 local kids participated in the event, which brought together students, families, coaches, and volunteers for a hands-on learning experience designed to help young riders build confidence and develop foundational cycling skills in a supportive environment.
A Strong Community Partnership
A special thank you goes to Tyler Bunnelle and Katy Logan from Silverthorne Elementary for their partnership and dedication in helping make this community event possible.
The evening was made even more impactful thanks to the efforts of Team Summit athletes and coaches who volunteered their time to mentor and encourage younger riders. Thank you to Steve, Finn, Ryan, Thomas, Elliot, Lucy, Jack, Charlie, and Easton for helping inspire the next generation of cyclists.
Skill Stations & Activities
Throughout the event, participants rotated through a variety of skill stations focused on:
-
Road and bike safety
-
Bike handling and balance skills
-
Fun challenges, including the popular chicken pickup station
-
Singletrack riding on the trails behind the school
Most importantly, the event was filled with smiles, laughter, and a shared passion for getting kids active outdoors.
Building Confidence Outdoors
Community events like the Bike Rodeo demonstrate the power of partnerships between schools, local organizations, athletes, and volunteers. By working together, we can create opportunities that build confidence, foster healthy lifestyles, and help more kids discover the joy of riding bikes.
At Team Summit, we believe that when communities come together, everyone benefits—and we’re excited to continue creating opportunities that help get more kids on bikes throughout Summit County.
