Freeski Devo Avalanche Awareness Class Recap

Freeski Devo Avalanche Awareness Class Recap First thing in the morning n February 29, the Freeski Devo program left for Copper Mountain for an introduction Avalanche Awareness and Snow Science lesson.  Many were excited to learn about a new aspect of Skiing beyond the Freeski world.  Reed Ryan, a veteran patroller and a Team Summit parent, met the crew, then proceeded to exceed everyone’s expectations.   With a daughter of his own, Ryan knew the Devo team would learn best through hands-on experience.  So Ryan gathered some of his patroller friends, buried a few beacons, grabbed...

U14 RC Championships Recap

Recap of the U14 RC Championships at Steamboat As many know, the U14 RC Championship was cut short due to concerns over public safety.  Team Summit sent five athletes to Steamboat Springs to compete in the championships and they all ranked in the top 30% of their field.  More importantly, Team Summit's crew brought a positive, supportive and respectful energy to this incredible event.  Here's what Tina Buchheister, TSC coach, had to say about the event: We have just returned from the U14 Rocky Central Championships at Steamboat Springs. We are proud of our great...

Bar Patterns Part 6 – Bent Over Row

Bar Patterns Part 6 – Bent Over Row Grasp the bar with a clean grip. This is determined by having your fingers just outside of your shoulders while the bar is resting on the front of your shoulders, like you are setting up for a front squat (this is also called the “rack position”). Begin with the bar hanging in front of your hips and standing with your feet hip width apart. This next piece might sound like an optional step, but it is paramount when it comes to performing the Olympic Lifts properly as we progress into explosive lifting. Hold the bar with a ”hook grip”....

COVID-19 Updates – March 13, 2020

COVID-19 Update – March 13, 2020 I am heartbroken in having to send this message. Things have escalated quickly here in Summit County. As much as we would love to continue with our programs for the remainder of the season we have reached a point where the risk of contributing to the community spread of COVID-19 outweighs the benefit of continuing organized training at Team Summit.  So effective immediately we are suspending all Team Summit activities. At this time we are unable to accurately determine how long this suspension will be in place. We will continue to communicate...

Athlete of the Month – Dylan Smith Dylan is a positive, responsible and caring young man who happens to also be an outstanding ski racer.  He had an early-season injury that kept him out for over a month.  In just his second race weekend of his season, after returning from an injury and five-week layoff, Dylan qualified for the RMD Team to the Rocky / Central Regional U16 Championships. More important than this outstanding athletic achievement, Dylan embodies the club's core values daily. His attendance at training is the highest among the team...
