FIS ACADEMY

Requirements:
  • Age Categories: U18: 16-17 years old, U21: 18-19 years old; based on the athlete’s age as of December 31, 2026.
  • Skills: Athletes should have previous ski racing experience and a US Ski and Snowboard Competition license. If you have questions about appropriate skill levels, contact the Alpine Director.
  • Program Dates: Tuesday through Friday 1:00-4:00 PM; Saturday and Sunday AM or PM Half-Days; October 23, 2026 – April 11, 2027 *Weather and Snow Conditions Permitting
  • Locations: Training will primarily take place at Copper Mountain, with additional short blocks at Keystone and Breckenridge.
  • Competitions: FIS athletes will compete in the Surefoot Colorado Ski Cup Series and, when qualified, in FISU, Nor-Am, Championship, and other travel events. FIS athletes have the opportunity to train and compete in all disciplines, including Super G and Downhill. Race and sign-up information is regularly updated on the Ability Team Calendar. Team travel may be available for out-of-division events, with coaches’ travel expenses shared among all attending athletes and included in competition travel billing.
  • Program Fees:
    • $8,995.00
    • + $400 Volunteer Service Fee.
  • Season Passes: Athletes must have a Copper Mountain or Ikon Pass and Epic Local Pass for training.  Registered athletes will receive discount vouchers for Copper Mountain and the Epic Local Pass. Ikon Pass offers season-long pricing at its lowest pre-season price. Vouchers are distributed to registered athletes close to the start of the season. For racers traveling to competitions throughout RMD and nationally, an Ikon Pass may be a more economical option than a Copper Mountain season pass.
